git is already decentralized. every developer has a full copy of the repository as well as everybody who is able to type "git clone…". if the repository on github is deleted, exactly nothing is lost and nothing about it is privileged except the url. this bitmex clone is a joke unless they plan to diverge from the core source.

the guys behind decred did this back in like 2012/13. they programmed bitcoin in go language… blockstream was moderately hostile towards them.. this could play out negatively for bitcoin short/mid term by further exposing points of centralization for the network..
