On today’s episode of The Cryptoverse…
I would like to focus on one thing today, something that has the potential for one cryptocurrency project to eat a quarter of the Internet.

Within the last 24 hours, something called SteemPress 2.0 was launched.
https://steemit.com/steempress/@steempress/steempress-2-0-introducing-two-way-wordpress-integration-with-steem

SteemPress is a WordPress plugin that provides a two way integration between the Steem blockchain and a WordPress blog.

SteemPress

In fact the Forbes website is built using WordPress as stated in this article by a Forbes contributor:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/montymunford/2016/12/22/how-wordpress-ate-the-internet-in-2016-and-the-world-in-2017/#123dce93199d

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WordPress
The Wikipedia article for WordPress quotes statistics from April 2018 such as 30% of the top 10 million websites are built using WordPress.

This is perfect timing on the back of my blog post from yesterday where I asked why Gab left such a hole in their technology system.

  1. Thanks Chris, This is your best yet – both informative and stimulating with the best viewer comments and discussion to date.
And yes, we do tune in to hear the Coney version of the truth.
Can't understand why some followers can't equate so many pro websites using WordPress as a launchpad and the obvious possibilities with the new Steemit dapp. Perhaps they need to reprise your comments. One day, the penny will drop.
Meanwhile, thinking about a new career as a blogger.
    Keep it up.

  2. I am very impressed & I have just joined on you Patreon. I look forward to earning crypto currency for reviewing videos & in the long term this is winner, winner chicken dinner! Thank you ?

  3. merideathrose You are a "victim?" "Of course." You harbor a special status? Perhaps. It will not last another Day. Things are out of your control. You, (and yours) have proven *INCOMPETENT and as such have lost the initiative. No event will change that. WE hold the initiative and we will choose the time and place for a closure to this matter.
Yours is a recipe for failure. You are power hungry and seek an 'empowered status' for weaklings such as yourself who are "gaming" a faulty system.
I can see you are leveraging that status to form a Bully hammer. You are swinging it around and causing damage to our inherent right to express ourselves. It's called, "free speech." Are you an 'enemy to The people?' These things have a way of "fixing themselves" with a preponderance of bad maths that you no longer have access to measure.
I suggest you pan out and grasp the larger picture: FACEBOOK has launched over 20 Soros financed color revolutions alone. You did not notice? We will not allow you to censor us. The push back will knock you off your A$$. Say "Hi" to 'Georgie boy' for me…

  4. We must keep talking about these issues without stricture. It's really about control. I try to hold my contempt as I will not be managed by mental midgets or someone Else's pets. There is No Rule of Law. There is no Due Process of Law. De Facto Arbitrary whim of Circumstance in effect. No Public or Congressional oversight. The Social Contract has been broken. This will not stand.

  5. thing is tho, STEEM is an old creation. Dan larimer has already said his creation has floors, he's working on steem2.0 with a much larger team, resources and its ontop eos. So I think STEEMs days are numbered quite frankly.

  6. Steempress … sounds pretty cool … have used facebook plugins that crosspost to FB and twitter in the past, but this also does monetization?! That's a plus … and I hate FB and twitter now anyway.

  7. But is setting up a Steam account as easy as setting up a WordPress account? It certainly wasn't when it took me a week to get an account earlier this year.

  8. @The Cryptoverse I am a long term hodler of STEEM but 25%? behave yourself Chris , it's a long shot to gain more than 10%, be honest. Other web3.0 is being frantically developed all the time. I think it will be bigger than WordPress, but only as the web sector grows. Bear in mind the growth of Objective C and Java apps etc eclipsing web-sites; and mobile vs web ratio is growing daily. But kudos on using Minds. com, it is the future. Hope DTube sort their shit out too

  9. We, in the Steem blockchain community is very much thankful for featuring, steem platform in your channel. If all your subscribers can thoroughly check all the DApps being developed in the steem blockchain, they will be amazed how the great potential of this platform. Please discuss more about steem in your channel.

    Thank you very much.

  10. I hope they do something about throwaway accounts. I’m all for anonymity and strongly feel we need a way for people to be able to post anonymously, but we absolutely need a way to make sure people don’t have a way to spam 1000 voices from one person. Influencing opinion and manipulating culture by way of fake comments is a major problem we need to get ahead of. “Proof of Existence” maybe?

  11. Let's think this through by comparing it to Disqus. When you sign up for Disqus to comment on someone's web site, it is a clunky experience that is pretty off-putting. Think about the average Joe and Jane's user experience of having to go through stupid bullshit like email verification and "I am not a robot" confirmation just to post a bloody one sentence reply to a story or comment on a web site. Most people just say "screw it", don't sign up, and simply click on the FaceBook icon to enable them to comment *instead*.

This Steem/Wordpress interface will replicate that clunky bad experience on steroids with not only its basic requirement that you do email and real person verification, but that you also are suddenly faced with the alarming requirement of signing up for a new account that is monetized and thereby has serious personal financial security risk that goes with it; risk which then must be addressed by an yet another added tedious step of carefully recording and protecting your login password as essentially an online wallet private key (a concept most of these new users won't know anything about – in fact most of them won't even know what crypto or an e-wallet are in the first place!) For a casual user who is merely reading a blog or news site and simply wants to leave a short comment and get on with their day, the process of signing up on Steemit to do so will be beyond absurd, and 99% of them not only won't be bothered to do it, but will likely be angered by it and will frustratedly click on that FaceBook icon with a vengeance.

Now add to all this what has always been the case – that regardless of WordPress potentially making the Steem user experience a little more smooth – when and if people actually choose to become Steem members just to leave a comment on a blog – we still have the basic reality to face that the fundamental underpinning of Steem – popularity (not merit) based micro-payments – is not remotely attractive enough at all to most people for it to ever catch on. Only a core group of crypto enthusiasts are now using, or will ever engage in, this sort of crypto-monetized popularity contest.

To say that this new Steem/Wordpress partnership will go over like a lead balloon would be an understatement. At best, this is a buy-the-rumour/sell-the-news opportunity, nothing more. Once it becomes widely known, it will perhaps make Steem tick up for a bit, afterwhich it will just go on to behave as it always has in the market. And long term it will be an also-ran among cryptocurrencies.

Sorry to be negative, but that's the reality of all this.

  12. If the content gets mirrored somewhere else your site could get penalized by Google for duplicate content, and lose rankings on the SERPs.
