9. People are so much ignorant about Futures market . They simply do not understand how it works . In futures market If you are long and you do not close your contract by expiry date then it is physically settled you must accept delivery and If you are short and you do not close your contract then you must make delivery . Every long position has equal and opposite short position or vice versa . That is why you must deposit physical bitcoin in BAKKT's account if you are short . So every long position can be settled with physical bitcoin if needed . In futures most people are traders and not interested in physical assets . Futures market is most transparent and data everybody receives is the same . In futures like oil , nat. gas or gold , less than 10 percent of volume is delivered . 90 percent of volume is mostly by day traders or swing traders who are not interested in delivery . If you fail to close your contract then you could end up getting delivery if you are long , or make delivery if short . Failure to close or roll over could be very expensive because there are lot of additional cost associated with delivering 1000 barrel of oil or 100 OZ.of gold bar . Market maker of BAKKT has enough bitcoin to provide liquidity if needed , they take both sides of trade , it makes no difference . There is also another reason why you would not want to buy from BAKKT because there is $10 physical delivery charge per contract. BAKKT will deliver 100 % of coin because traders who are short have already deposited those coin.1 Volume is made of 1 long plus 1 short.
