  1. Like you I buy lots of phones. Like at least 2 per year. When the S20 Ultra was released at $1399 I was done. I left Apple because I bought an S9+ and loved Android. So I bought an 11 Pro Max that I just gave to my son. I have an S10+ and Note 10+ (my first Note) and was going to upgrade my Note every year. But not at probably $1499. So I sold my S10+ last week. I'll keep my Note because it's financed. I bought a Pixel 4XL for $699 and I'm done upgrading. I'll use the Pixel til the wheels fall off and let Apple and Samsung fight over prices. When this phone is done I'll stay in that midrange or start buying 6-12 mos after release and get a much more economical deal.

  2. I'd say Samsung started the price increase. But apple was the first to start the 999.99 trend. But it was inevitable. The S7 was $669 and s7+ $779. The s8 was $720 and the s8+ $850. Then FUCKING APPLE said …. Hmmmm well people are just going to finance it anyways, let's just make it $999.99
Then everyone started increasing the prices of their phones

  3. No, back in the day in Canada. Smartphone contracts were for 3 years. Then our Government changed the Rules and made our phone contracts to only be 2 year contracts.

  4. Well said, Jason! I love this direction you’re going with your videos. The strong opinions you share are enough to make you think. You’re not spouting hate, just sharing a strong opinion and view with us. I agree with you on this topic! Keeping it painfully honest.

  5. Is it somehow a secret that if you buy your Android phone 30 -90 days after release you can get a way better price. Not so much the care for iPhones.

  6. I'm not sure what phones Samsung offers in the US but here in Europe they not only offer the Galaxy series but also the budget friendly A series of phones: A10, A10, A30, A51 and A70. And in the mid tanner they have the S10e lite, S10 lite and Note 10 lite. So basically they offer a phone in every market segment and price point. Apple didn't have that here. The cheapest option is the iPhone 6, starting at around €400, dollar by the 7, 8 and XR.

The nothing in the budget segment from Apple, but perhaps the iPhone 9 will remedy that.

I do think though that the high prices definitely are Apple's fault because they consistently increased prices over the years, emboldening others to do the same. The day the X was announced at 1000, I remember thinking "oh crap! Now all smartphones are going to start getting best and above 1000!!" And alas, that's exactly what's happened.

  7. Not only did Apple ruin the self awareness of the manufacturer with respect to pricing, they arrogantly obsoleted older phones with the Hunter/Killer updates and the lack of support for older phones.

I wont speak for anyone but myself so here it is …

" CHEESE AND CRACKERS, WHERE DOES THIS MADNESS END ???!!!"

It ends when WE say "No more Mega Phone Manufacturer !!! "

Sadly you dream if you think that will ever happen as the average knuckle dragging mouth breathing troglodyte has no backbone let alone any self respect left.

I type this on an iphone 6+ and i have no intention to purchase anything untill the wheels fall off this one. I urge you all to do the same ✌?

  8. I went to best buy and played with the s20 ultra everytime i picked that phone up i automatically touched the camera every single time dont buy the ultra

  9. I got off the Galaxy S bandwagon after I retired my S4. The S5 and S6 at the time weren't innovative compared to how the S4 was to the S2 and S3, and the prices went up exponentially. I jumped to the LG V10 after that, and now the V20, and after this, I'm off the V-series bandwagon because LG has done the same damn thing – not much innovation with much higher prices.

  11. That's not Apple alone…. Cmon Jason… Plus now Apple is switching tactics finally. After establishing itself as a luxury, reliable, and consistent it is turning to the mid-range and potentially the budget segments! And apparently people around the world would switch to an iphone if it was cheaper —see global sales of XR and 11 in 2018 and 2019. One more thing… The audio is abysmal in this one.
