  1. So it's basically Monster Hunter, crib edition? Gotcha, I'm going to go buy Monster Hunter World now. Thanks for helping me decide between the two, this video basically shoved Monster Hunter across the finish line, for me. How you doing back there Dauntless? You gonna make it? No? That's okay too… Just try your best, I'll be off amassing hunts in MHW.

  2. So sad, just like irl, humans just want to exploit nature. Games like these just engrain nature-cide in the players.
Hey look, a majestic beast… let's kill it.
    ??‍♂️?

  3. I’m a casual player, and the early game is so easy I’m having trouble enjoying the combat. Just stand next to monster, hit monster. How long until there’s a challenge?

  4. the is overall right but the part were he talks about playing by yourself is completely wrong, when u are with a squad the behemoth health increases by 66% per person that joins so playing by yourself is much easier if you can carry your own weight

  5. Plenty of potential for the game, I’d love a open world map where you can see other people doing their own thing and monsters come in and out similar to mhw guiding lands.

  6. I personally like the speed, simplicity, and depth this game has. Its full of everything important you'd want out of a mh style game but in its own simplistic and FREE way. Which is the biggest catch.

  7. While this game is fun and stylish, having played both Monhun and Dauntless I have two serious issues with Dauntless–the music is bland and the maps are empty.

The head-banging music in Monster Hunter is a series staple just as critical as its deep combat, and with no memorable tunes to speak of Dauntless's fights feel surprisingly unfinished. Though the monsters themselves are really well-designed (except you, Nayzaga. I hate you, Nayzaga.), the lack of identifying theme songs and the generic attack sounds really drain them of personality. I don't get pumped to fight a Drask the same way I get pumped to fight, say, a Zinogre, and this is a big reason why.

Similarly, the maps are beautiful but almost entirely empty, with no real notable landmarks and not a single living thing on the map other than the target Behemoth, which makes these lovely locales feel like little more than set dressing to trudge through, and since the only way to know where a monster will appear is to memorize aethervent locations, this is actually a real gameplay problem. No Behemoths have special dens or hangouts as far as I can tell, either. Whenever I walk through the maps I find myself groaning, just wishing I was fighting in a small arena or something so I didn't have to spend five minutes walking around picking mushrooms with nothing to see.

So, in short, playing Dauntless just makes me wish I was playing Monhun 🙁
