New World Review - The Final Verdict

New World may pay a price for that down the road with hardcore players looking for more complex and uncommon experiences elsewhere, but that could be …

  1. This game is so fuckinng boring. My friend got me this game because he’s a mmo vet and I wanted to get into a good mmo, I painfully played for 30 hours hoping the game would get better but it just doesn’t atleast at lvl 25. You just kill skeletons over and over again doing quests for different people that send you to the same place to fight the same skeletons/pirates and search the same stockpiles. Then there is a single dungeon you can do repeatedly till you get to lvl 35 I think. Oh and all this while running across the map for 20 min, I don’t mind that you can only fast travel at settlements but there is zero reason for there to be no mounts on release with this game design, by the time mounts are introduced people will be max level and will be focusing on pvp anyway. The pvp is decent with the wars and the factions fighting for power but it’s not interesting or good enough for me to grind out the game to compete with other players. I was lucky enough to start a guild that was top 3 in our server and that was the only reason this game gave me any amount of fun what so ever, with all the other guilds wanting to speak with us on discord to discuss battle plans it felt like some real politics and I enjoyed that. My guild mates have told me that once you reach max level there is no more content, the game is supposed to be fun from leveling but it simply is not the only fun is from pvp and it goes stale fast. If you didn’t buy the game on release you have no chance of making a guild that can compete at this point and being a settler rank in a guild doesn’t serve you at all except for housing discounts so at this point if you haven’t bought the game just don’t and wait for some updates or expansions trust me

  2. One of the big reasons New World is a hit is that it's an Amazon game. Guild wars 2 has far better content, story, missions and even crafting. Gw2 does a trashy job marketing its game otherwise there is nothing great about New World. There is going to be alot of new updates in New world, which hopefully will make it better but right now it's not worth it.

  3. This review is ridiculous. So many things that are fundamental to this game aren't even mentioned. C'mon man, if you're going to review MMOs, learn how to do it properly.

  4. New world seems good bc we don't have much to do atm. Not a single review has made me think its worth the money or time atm.

  5. Seems interesting i saw few of my friends in steam logging into the game and it looks kinda cool, but its only beta so maybe in the future when i will know more about the game i will give it a try.

  6. I don't get how you do not talk about crafting given that it is a fundamental aspect of the game. You are dragging your feet unnecessarily if you don't craft and rely on the RNG loot to get through. Also, you didn't talk about how this game encourages you to do anything and be good at it since it levels up stuff on basis of what you do. I played a lot of FFXIV, ESO and WOW and this honestly doesn't feel like any MMO I have ever played before.

  7. I really did try to like it. Crafting/gathering is good, but everything else is mediocre. The combat is a boring spamfest, skills are lame, movement feels clunky, quests are repetitive, story is painfully generic, characters look like they have an extra chromosome, etc. A very underwhelming experience. I expected more from a company with endless resources.

  8. The game is very complex with uncommon experiences in the end-game. You are not in the end-game. What are you even talking about? The open world PvP is awesome, the Wars are awesome. The player driven aspect is awesome. The combat is awesome. The issue is the opposite of what you claimed it was; this game is hardcore player focused, not casual player focused.

  9. Games not good or bad. Playing alone is a snooze fest but playing with friends or pvping with others is a blast. Game has one of the best launches compared to a lot of other games in the past years. If they invest time and effort into the game it could be great we will have to see.

  10. Shit review, didn't even talk about any of the pvp systems or the instances at all, which is one of the defining features of an MMO, you know, the content that is designed to be played with multiple people

  11. A reviewer that only got max lvl 5… Not a single word about the PVP aspect, dungeons, forts, territories. A MMO doesn't always need to be complex to be good, New World did a great job in that. Also it will get bigger and better and who knows the complex part of the game will come later.

  12. Very good review. I feel then same way I played the beta and it was so dull. Combat was boring and clunky. New mmo comers will think it's awesome but will get bored as hell. When LOST ARK comes it will destroy this game

  13. I’m a diehard gamer and an introverted homebody, but I think I’d rather go on a walk in a park and look at trees and squirrels than play this game. Well, that’s probably what I’d end up doing anyways while waiting to enter one of its damn servers anyways.

  14. – Quests are repetitive, grindy and boring
    – Fast travel needs to be made easier
    – Game is in desperate need of mounts for traveling faster. (Point A to point B crap)
    – Combat is still a little slow and sluggish.
    – Animations sometimes skip frames or do weird rubber-banding.. especially while dodging (rendering it useless)
    – No swimming (as far as I can tell, you just walk through water)
    – No endgame, pve content is a bit meh.
    – Amazon has already been open to adding level boosts, profession boosts, and skill boosts in 2022.
    – Launch was handled poorly, people stuck in queues for hours (Probably to bump up hours so can't refund)

Stay clear for now, it's a watch and wait. FOMO is the only reason people are buying this in mass, it won't last.
Got to level 20 before feeling burnt out, that the game is a chore/task to play (not in a fun way)
if amazon handles this right, in time this MMO has major potential.

  15. Having a lot of fun with the game, lots of variety to the gameplay, of you get tired of questing (which they are pretty mediocre) you can switch to crafting and gathering or running the economy. Get tired of that? Switch to playing some PVP and help your faction take territory. Get tired of that? Try exploring to fin rare resources or lore pages.

Also the voip helps the community feel alice

  16. average video, the soundtrack was incredible. guy barely talked about how bad he quest design is. i think the grind / the fun combat / good waepon system is what this game does well.

  17. So in the gameplay shown in the video, I think I saw whoever was playing block ONCE the entire time. And I think there was a single dodge used. Sure in the opening levels you can face tank most enemies and take the hits, but not once you get past a certain point that's for sure. Also, did the reviewer not think it was important to bring up the gathering and crafting aspect of the game? Since you know, it's a huge part of the game's overall experience and all? Oh and I don't think the PVP aspect of the game was even mentioned either? Nor the whole territory side of things.
