If you have one of the supported keyboards the headset can project a sharper virtual clone of your keyboard over the top of your real physical keyboard… its one of the reasons the Logitech K830 is so hard to find now…. actually macbook keyboards are one of the supported keyboards in horizen workspace Unfortunatlely they only seem to support US layouts which means the enter key is misalined with my uk keyboard
Stupid idea
What's the max number of displays one could have when using the Meta Workspace app?
this is good for the layman. They don't want or aren't aware of some of the things you can do. Just how does it work out the box.
Just get a hefty power bank with a belt pouch. Strap it on the belt, cable on your back threaded through to the headset so it doesn't get in the way of your hands, you're all set for several hours if not the whole day.
Brother, in the setting they have a mapped keyboard option. It'll give you a virtual keyboard that overlays your laptop keyboard and even track you fingers as you type.
You SHOULD be able to map your keyboard since it's a MacBook pro. At least on the quest 2 that's an option
King zuck seems to have lost big money he adjusted that by firing his workers lost other people's money to on his so called binoculars
Why spend $1500 for this when you can get the same function in Nreal AR glasses for $350? Also, Meta quest pro seems very bulky. Does it allow settings for people who need to wear prescribed glasses?
there are certain keyboards that are already mapped with the quest in passthrough. think some Logitech keyboards are on there. but only certain keyboards
They already have a passthrough for specific keyboards. I think they should be able to bring any KB into the Quest…
Are you kidding me? You want me to sit with a usb cable plug to my head? You're hilarious LOL
I have a Valve Index, but I doubt a wire will help with clarity though. I make my screens 1 meter high and get close to them just to be able to read.
It has a lot of nuances because it's just not where it needs to be and especially for the price! It has a few things going for it, but it's still not there, but it's the first of it's kind. I'll wait till the price goes way down before getting hyped about it. (But make no mistake, I'll be watching this one.)
Thank you very much Tom Brady
You used Metaâs weak first party app. Try again with Immersed. Part of Immersed is the community around it so definitely dive into the Discord, join the public coworking spaces. For the keyboard, you totally CAN map out your keyboard and get an overlay. So this is kind of a weird complaint if itâs something theyâve had for awhile.
Great video, thanks. Btw – keyboard passthrough and even virtual recognition of your keyboard is already implemented and quite workable if you have the right keyboard and take the time to set it up.
This is a really solid 1st/2nd step.
The quest pro is definitely just a devkit unfortunately, and not a plug and play xr device. Anyhow, here's a couple of notes:
1. You do NOT need Internet speed for lag free streaming. You just need a good router, which doesn't even have to be connected to the Internet, but it does have to be connected to your laptop with an ethernet cable and your headset have to be connected via the 5ghz channel. Ser bandwidth at 80 as well. Remote desktop works perfectly like that, and I imagine all the other apps does too. If it doesn't, it's probably because of the lack of gpu power in apple products.
2. There has been a couple of keyboards available for tracking in the quest 2 firmware for a while. I'm sure they're working on more keyboards being compatible with the quest Pro. I tried it with a logitech keyboard in my quest 2, almost a year ago and it worked very well!
I love the comment section. Literally, 90% are positive. A great future is ahead.
Then you remove it after 5 hours only to realise that you have gained a migraine and a permanent face tattoo :â
Is there an option to NOT have curved screens? I really need to see straight lines.
I f*kin *KNEW IT ! đ¤Ŧđ¤đ dodged the bullet not buying it
Nreal Air would be better for this application
Wondering how much he got to promote this
You lost me at "plugged in all day".
This makes me wonder how well the headset would help coders
Bottom right icon on the corner desk letâs you cycle your real hands/keyboard/desk views
Now facebook has a 3d scan of your house, that they will sell
Does anyone know how to change the virtual screen position in Workrooms? Theyâre too far away
When they add windows support to the Nreal Airs this is gonna be obsolete. I just hope they do add windows support for nebula.
I'm sure people have told you this by now, but you actually can do pass through mode for just to your desk so you can see your keyboard and still be in the log cabin or whatever
not even close to a laptop replacement lol the video title is clickbait
A number of the issues mentioned in the video would be addressed by using Immersed instead of Workrooms. But, Workrooms is more stable overall and simplified, so I use them both interchangeably. Also, as there is keyboard tracking for certain keyboards, and I find that it works decently well.
I still enjoy Quest 2 thin head strap so that I can lay on my pillow on my bed to handle tons of work
I'm kinda surprised you had to use wifi, considering the quest 2 can be plugged directly into a desktop for use. Maybe the app is being modified for laptop work use, where it leverages enough of gpu/cpu to be a more viable option, but not so much for gaming. With wifi the latency and artifacting would produce the much more blurred image you experienced. As you said, it's still a very early product that has a ways to go. Much like the first smart phones, these devices will get lighter and more efficient
You seem to be confusing the per eye resolution with the total display resolution. Use Immersed if you actually want to be able to read stuff.
LOL good luck with that. Should have waited, since these will be heavily discounted.
Great review! Thanks. I think I might wait for the second generation quest pro for these issues to get worked out.
I have a quest 2 and the screen resolution and the weight are dealbreaker. Wanted to love but finally hate the solution
.. 2005 CRT!? I remember when those were the Bee 's knees! Really good review and timely. As soon as the resolution issue is addressed, this will be my go-to as I travel a lot of the time. Thanks!
666 likes… interesting
Bro, the resolution is 1920 by 1800 in each eye, thatâs almost 4K. Your downplaying the resolution.
I have a 49 inch curved Samsung display so I did have to adjust my computers resolution some but not to no 720. Awesome video otherwise. Hope to see more.
You can turn keyboard pass through on in workspaces. Itâs the eyeball button on the desk!
Humans do EVERYTHING to get away from reality, we invented books /schools /tech gadgets /social media /metaverse /companies & more.
i know they have been trying to map keyboards for a while now and there is a handful of them that work with the quest 2. I assume they would be tracked by this headset as well with the main one being the logitech k830. Which has mostly been out of stock over the last year or so… But, it is available now with logitech's site saying limited availability… and its also on sale
Resolution is the main thing that makes me less interested in this.
Bro you know what is better than the meta quest was the HoloLens 2 was really good and is far more Better than the quest pro
I think there's some pass through for Mac keyboards at least.
I used to be able to see the mapped virtual keyboard of my MacBook in Workrooms no problem, just had to configure it in settings. I doubt that they removed the support for this feature (I was using MacBook Pro 13" and Air models over a year ago), also it would be strange if they didn't add the support for 14" and 16" models yet
