  1. is really just an exposure test. the photos are too small to pick up sharpness details and correct focus, as evidenced by the samsung getting the focus wrong, but still doing well in the night mode. I just did a a few votes, and what I realised I was doing, was just picking the best exposure. the photo which contained the most details in dark or light areas tended to win. This seems to be reflected in the overall results also.

  2. Hey. One suggestion. It would be nice to see the stats of people who voted. For example what mobile the users were using while doing the vote. Because if most of the people voted the same with the iPhone, it is official that they themselves don't like the iPhone's picture quality 😂

  3. I completed the test in its entirety. Towards the end they were getting pretty difficult to pick between the two photos. Iphone user here, and I am not too suprised that the Pixel slapped the other phones around AGAIN. Hope this makes One Plus Samsung and Apple step their camera system game up. Enjoyed this more so then the Twitter vote. 👍🏽

  4. I'm just glad my Samsung did better than the iPhone 14 pro, and the phones that did better than mine, I literally have no idea what half of them are and the other half, I don't personally know a single person that owns one. So basically in my world my phone has the best camera.

  5. Amazing job with this one and the sites quality! The craziest reveal for me was iPhone 14 Pro was my number 1 in night mode and then was ranked 12th overall. Maybe it's just me but I don't like a night mode shot that tries to emulate daylighting. It also one of the best backgrounds, a majority of the pictures had over-exposed backdrops that didn't allow much detail. I don't think it fully nailed the color but I my mind that's a change of a slider vs the exposer or focus being slightly off.

I do have 2 suggestions for next year:

    1. Have YouTubers and people around the studio take the test and react to the results. It would make a great studio channel video or maybe a section on the MKBHD podcast but I would love to know what my favorite reviewers results were. The difference between the public vs content creators who's job it is to review photos is interesting to me as a data point.

    2. I would have loved to just be given all of the pictures and say "this one is my favorite, this one is my least favorite" basically like a tier list. Maybe as a more advanced option for "the pros" and give the full res pictures and allow people to pixel peep. I already knew which were my favorites and least favorites after taking the test, but since some showed up more than others the total amount of "wins" decided pictures I didn't like as much as better for my results.

  6. I personally think the portrait mode of the pixel looks way to over sharped I think it looks terrible, I had my hands on the pixel and I was really disappointed. In my opinion the Xioumi 12 ultra makes the best job, the sensor has always natural background blur Wich is just Better than Ai

  7. IT's very interesting to see the results. But just want to point out this can be skewed as some of them I just clicked randomly lol… Not hating just pointing that out.
