  1. As long as they understand the story, catch that emotion and impact like they did in the game then the show will be a success. The trailer looks interesting so far. Resident evil failed us on their end.

He originally said “It's an open and shut case, this is the greatest story that has ever been told in video games”.
The word usage of "Its an open and shut case" lends to the idea that there is no option of opinion.
    Comes across as damage control.

  3. It's not hard too avoid the video game curse when made too TV or film ,you just take a more grounded approach and stop treating it like gamers are all kids

  4. Neil is only 1/2 of the duo responsible for creating this IP, not to mention everyone else at ND. He may have been credited as lead writer, but he did not have complete freedom – Straley and others made him change a lot of ideas he had. Many ideas pushed aside for the first game were then, depsite being deemed lackluster for the first game, reused by Neil for the 2nd game, which he had more creative control over. Look at the 2nd game compared to the first and wherever you stand on the difference between those two games will tell you whether or not Neil’s involvement in the show is enough to make it worthwhile.

  5. “We didn’t feel like playing the games would lead us anywhere. This is a show for modern audiences and we feel the message wouldn’t come across if we did play them.” – Last Of Us Show-runners, probably.

  6. Castlevania and Edgerunners already proved great video game adaptations can be done. No such thing as a "video game curse", it's just called a bad adaptation. Coming in with a lack of respect for the material you're already doomed to fail.

  7. Alot of the flops are through weird changes in the source material but this does seem like its going to follow The Last Of Us properly

  8. Sorry HBO, but you aren’t magician geniuses finally being our saviours and breaking the video game curse. Detective Pikachu did all the way back in 2019, and Netflix/Sonic have been carrying the torch ever since.

If anything, Naughty Dog have made the worst adaptation in recent memory with the Uncharted movie.
