  1. hey y'all, posting this as Director of Programming to hopefully disspel some of the conversation i'm seeing in these comments.

ultimately, the move to audio only is a question of bandwidth, and 100% not a question of money. there's a LOT of time dedicated to our weekly shows that y'all don't see (roughly 12 hours of pre and post production). And keep in mind, we do FIVE of them every week, so take those hours and multiply that number by 5. the audio versions do 3-4x the number of downloads vs YT views WoW. it wasn't an easy decision, but we know we can still serve those dedicated audiences AND devote more time to making new, awesome stuff! thank you for watching us and please give the audio a shot, i think you'll find us every bit as goofy and engaging, whether you can see us or not!

  2. Hope if the rumors are true and ign cant support all these shows that everyone finds their own homes like kinda funny. Up at noon and NVC will be Missed…

  3. I'm not going to say anything specifically negative about the bits of news revealed in this episode, but let's just say it's always sad to realize that you have to part ways with some media that you'd liked previously. Looks like Go Nintendo is my only video game podcast, now. Good luck guys!

  4. I appreciate totally the time and effort you all put into this great show and others but couldn't you reduce time with more resources and staff etc. which I know requires more money hence I suggest things like – more ads, super chat type system, patreon etc. I hope you don't just do audio because It's not just seeing you guys (which is fun) but it's also seeing clips as you are talking about the games. To be honest going to back to audio is like going from movies back to radio drama. I hope you reconsider, thanks. (P.s. Congrats Casey!)

  5. Sorry- your guys’ facial expressions alone justify keeping this on video. The show is going to lose so much going audio only. Just as all of your other shows will lose the same. This is a mistake.

  6. The video aspect will surely be missed by me. Really enjoyed watching this and the body language from peer and Brian. Brian, having you play up the fact the video is going away but the show will somehow be better is a stretch but I know there isnt much else you can say.

  7. I like Casey, but I’m really shocked by this decision. Of all the guest hosts, she’s the only one I feel who hasn’t felt natural YET. That’s not to say she won’t grow into it… but thus far, she’s awkward and uncomfortable as a host.

I feel NVC jumped the gun on this decision (maybe because of her popularity) and should have continued her trial period to see what she’ll end up like once she’s more comfortable. Right now, I really can’t tell if I’ll continue with the show or not, because having a good host can make or break the show for me.

I’ll listen for a few episodes, but if the switch to audio and the new host just aren’t clicking, I may have to pull out sadly.

  8. I was sad about the audio only news, but love hearing you guys each week and can't imagine the weekly lineup without it. Thanks for all the continued great conversations and great hosting, everyone! Congrats, Casey!

  9. Casey hosting, in my opinion, will be the best thing to happen to NVC since Jose's hosting run. It's a bit unfortunate we won't get to see all your beautiful faces, but I am excited to see (or hear) the direction that the show will take. I look forward to it.

  10. Guys I already unsub from the other ign podcast for the same reason. I am/ was a big fan since Jose did the podcast. I just feel like ign doesn’t care. Good luck guys ?

  11. I sold my 3DS when the Switch came out because I figured the Switch would take over my handheld portable gaming. Turns out I hardly ever play my Switch in handheld mode. Now I've bought another 3DS used on ebay just because I wanted to play Link Between Worlds again! Murphy's Law: Now Nintendo will probably port LBW to Switch. DOH!

  12. Man, what a huge, huge bummer having no more video. We won't be able to see your faces and so it will eliminate a sort of closeness between you and your viewers. Any new comer won't know who they are listening to.

Just point a camera at your faces while you record the audio and post the video, why is that so hard?

  13. Congratulations Casey!!! I was so happy the past couple weeks hosting and now this announcement made me cheer out loud while driving. Hoping the content continues to get better!

  14. i already miss the way nintendo does dedicated handheld. the switch is not a handheld the way the gameboy & ds lines were. you can’t put a switch in your pocket either. also the quality of the 3ds games are a hundred times better than 99% of the junk in the switch eshop. and no virtual console? what a joke. i really hope they do another handheld before long.

  15. I am happy that Nintendo is still supporting Nintendo 3DS system. Now, I just wish that SEGA would bring over the two volume Sega Arcade 3D Classic Collection, that would be great!!

I would not be surprised if more games come out in 2019 on top of what we already know.

  16. I walked into Target launch day around 11:00am and bought my Switch & BotW. There was no line at all, no one in front of me or waiting behind me. It was surreal.

  17. I am ONLY fine with audio only if you make it like the Nintendo Power Podcast with the 90s audio book feel to it with transitions sounds of similar quality and feel… also we need the face of that sexy German as the still image!

  18. If it means that the show can go longer because you aren't having to do all these shows in the same space then I think I will be happier.

  19. Great news! Casey is the perfect host!
Also, i was kind of negative about going audio only, I’m now looking forward to NVC and the changes.
Thanks for all your great work at ign!

  20. Cut the Crap…. Philip has brought down IGN…. Too many other choices… Ads have decreased… Less money = save costs… Many people have left for a better future. We can all see the writing on the wall.
