  1. Ask/check to see if there is a capacitive area that isn't a button. Now that there are more pictures of the controllers it looks like that's the one thing that didn't get carried over from the touch. Currently I think the only program that uses it is Natural Locomotion on steam. thanks

  2. I'm glad VR is beginning to take a more aggressive push into the market, this headset looks great but it is $400 and that's a good chunk of money regardless. It's also nice to see Oculus going back to PCVR. I have the original Rift and I absolutely love it, hopefully, my touch controllers don't break anytime soon because my hands are pretty large for them as is and the quest controllers are a bit smaller. I still wished they supported external sensor tracking to compliment the built-in tracking as my three sensor set up provides flawless tracking.

  3. Please address the concern of people that have a gaming PC but still are leaning toward the Quest for the portability factor… If having a PC isn't an issue is going Rift S a no brainer vs Quest or is the Quest still the better option for the no tethering?

  4. Love the vid by the way and I love the in depth review. I had worries for this headset but I gotta say, for $400 it’s actually not too bad. This is just a renovated version of the Rift. Not really a brand new system. So it makes sense. I’m glad the 80hz wasn’t too bad. But I do kind of wish they had wireless rift trackers because the wired ones are annoying. But again, great vid and I’m excited for 2019!!!

  5. Still not sold at all, feels more like a microtransaction than a full AAA title…. Stagnation not innovation, never thought I would say this but .. Bringg on the HTC Cosmos…. Where my money will be going.

  6. Ahhhh I wish I would've thought to ask you to put the headset on, close one eye, then shift it a bit side to side to see how the image looked with your pupil in different spots relative to the lens, emulating IPD differences.. :/

  7. Completely agree with your assessment after playing with it at pax myself. It is a perfect headset for newcomers, but it is not really enough to justify an upgrade for people who are happy with the rift such as myself. It seems like another option right now rather than a full on upgrade, ill be waiting till the next gen myself if I buy another headset. Too bad I didn't catch you there on the floor, I was hanging around the indie booths myself.

My only question is how it tracks in rooms that are not an ideal setup. Of course on the show floor they had empty square rooms to give the best and safest experience on the floor, but I wonder what happens when a few irregular room shapes are thrown at it.

  8. Dont know.. my rift is working perfectly well, this is not enough of an upgrade. And im sorry but playing archery games you put your hand a lot close to your head, for example Sacralith, in Death.

  9. I've been looking everywhere for someone who got a chance with the Rift S and addressed the concerns people have, and this video hit them all. Keep up the good work!

  10. Sounds great. That's pretty much what people have been saying all along. Not a Rift 2.0 but great for new adopters. Although you seem to be convinced that the software IPD actually works well. Now that would be something of a different opinion. But who really knows, is your IPD different from Average?

  11. I see why this is a good choice for people interested in jumping into PCVR for the first time. It's definitely not for current Rift owners who have a solid setup. While us existing VR enthusiasts want a new toy, we need to accept that the Rift S was not designed with our needs and wants in mind.

  12. Had a really bad time with support with the ordinal, one of the old controllers broke on me. And after a 2 weeks of trying to get a replacement. Just got a refund off amazon… So Im not going to be going back to oculus.

  13. I can't wait to buy this on the first day it's released! Going to be a great addition for my new 2060 oc pro/r7 2700x build! Thank you for the great information, I have an ipd of 59 so I'm very pleased to hear I can use this headset with great visuals!!

  14. A major question I have is about brightness. I have the Oculus Rift, and also the Samsung Odyssey. The Odyssey is almost immeasurably brighter then the rift, and that makes it excellent for bright daytime scenes. The rift, on the other hand is kind of like putting on sunglasses after seeing the Odyssey. I'm very curious about the apparent brightness of the rift s.

  15. Yep still want to go for this headset, tho for the hardcore VR fans, want to state that i am new to VR, so for me it be a nice step in, and i choose it over the quest because i don't want to be limited by an enclosed ecosystem, i want PC VR,

The only Negative i have about the Rift S , is the price, sure its 399 USD, but i am in Europe, and in Europe it will be 499 EURO's which is 557,11 USD.

With that price Oculus might fail to bring VR to the masses over in Europe, because about 500 Euro's is still to expensive , for example for 609 Euro, i can get the original Vive starter kit but yeah i don't want to mess with outside in tracking,

so yeah, love it, but my wallet does not. then again, just means i need to save more. and it be a bit longer until i can actually buy it, and by then maybe news about a rift 2 will be out 🙂

  16. was gonna get the htc vive, saw this was coming out so i decided i was gonna wait for it, but i really wish they would tell us a date. im considering just going ahead and getting a vive instead. vive cosmo's seems really nice but will def be out of my price range anyway.
