  1. I would say they should dig deep into the brain during states of lucid dreaming. I've lived with consistent lucid dreaming constantly since I was 12-13 years old. I have control over myself, but not the setting, physics of the setting, the personalities and behavior of others, etc. None of it can be willed into changing, which for the most part is great and terrible depending on what's going on. If the place has weird physics absolutely spend time playing around with it. One a little while back was a planet somewhat similar to Earth but had an orange tint to the light that was really deep sometimes, and the gravity fluctuated on a consistent scale just a bit. Timing my jumps I could get an extra several inches when I jumped so I reached peak the gravity was at its least strongest. Also figured out how to run and slide then tap my foot to keep myself off the ground so I was effectively gliding just above the ground. (had to take shoes off so the rubber would catch)

My lucid dreams have always been extremely vivid, and I absolutely think it'll be closest thing to real virtual reality that could ever really take us to the next step. But, I doubt the world would ever really delve that deep into it. People care more about hating each other and making bank than actually working together to take humanity forward. *cheers to the people who have the option and financi connections to do things for humanity *

  2. While I see some of the Advantages right Now there are too many Disadvantages especially when it comes to Brainwashing the Masses. Like Vanilla Skies what if you're stuck in a Nightmare and Can't get Out. You should list the Disadvantages before giving People a Choice…

  3. It's crazy that it isn't ridiculous to think that one day in the future our currently reality would be useless and boring as everyone lives in virtual reality where they could live the life they want. It's scary to think about.

  4. Imagine if VR could warp time; you could spend a year in some wicked vr world while wasting a mere hour of real life

  5. The part of the video (in 5:47) about the patients afraid of heights, that were overcoming their fears by jumping in Virtual Reality reminded me of an idea that i had lately.

It is about how when being in conscious dream i would put myself through hundreds of physical tortures on the body and also psychical horrors, to try to reshape my fight or flight responses during life threatening situations like knife attacks, a severe climatic events, shootings and many more. Of course the intensity will grow very slightly and step by step – if i will be able to sustain such stress in a first place. Probably there are some things that can flat out not allow me to try to reach my end result. And all of this in order to be completely (or close to) a full control of thoughts, emotions and other processes during said life threatening occurences. Maybe such thing will be transferable to Virtual Reality too.

I've read and watched some stories, where people act ineffectively and instinctively and i was always thinking to myself with confidence ,,If i would be in their place i would have full control of the situation and would've made it much more effectively". But barely imagining the thing, and experiencing it with only two senses, along with many, many more advantages it's easy to say that.

I had a dream also lately that completely shattered that confidence and made me that, given my nature i would probably act as them or even worse. And that's how this ,,thought experiment" of some sorts started existing. I'm probably not gonna test it in closest 10 years i feel, but i'm pretty interested in trying it out someday.

  6. Possible movie plot.
Imagine a future time where vr is a thing.
The number of virtual realities become so much that the people start to get lost between the worlds. Fortunately not everyone can create their own virtual realities. Government decides that they have to authorize a selected number of worlds so that people dont get lost. Some day a group of rogue programers find out that the world they are living in is actually virtual and the real world is at the verge of destruction.
