  1. This was an excellent video and they all make some great points. I agree with the Dota / LoL and CS / Valorant comparison. Valorant is definitely more accessible than CS, and I think that might lead to more people giving it a shot, which is essentially what LoL did with the MOBA genre and they became the more popular game.

However, I think the biggest point here is, all the people that are looking for a competitive game and are having trouble jumping into a game that already has a pre-defined common knowledge like Siege, LoL, OW, and CSGO. Everybody in Valorant will be on a clean slate and you can start off on an even playing field with the meta from day 1.

This is also the first highly competitive title to launch since the Twitch boom in 2018 due to the BR craze, and it couldn't have come at a better time. The BRs are slowly losing appeal and those users that came in during that rush will be looking elsewhere now and will boost the people wanting to try Valorant more than ever. There are so many eyes on it as well due to Riot's success with LoL and it 's also F2P and Riot has optimized it to wear it can run on SO MANY gaming PCs regardless of your specs.

They've created an incredible marketing campaign that has gotten off to an incredible start, I think they have something big here. Only time will tell. But for now, I've played beta for the last 2 days and I'm having a blast! For anybody reading this with doubts, don't knock it until you try it. It definitely won't be for everybody, but I think it's for a lot more people than most people are assuming.

  2. The problem with Dota 2 isn't even "the difficulty" imo, but it's how clunky the game feels in something as basic as moving the characters. My biggest problem with Dota 2 are the turn animations – every time you click in a different direction your character doesn't turn instantly like in League, but it actually has a super annoying animation that it does every time a character turns to a different direction, it feels fucking horrible.
Making the game harder by adding clunky and annoying mechanics that players have to deal with… isn't the way to do it imo.
League also has the advantage of having way less demanding PC requirements compared to Dota 2, which is a huge factor in bringing in as many players as possible. That's what Riot is doing with Valorant now as well, by making the game very "toaster friendly", unlike something like R6S or most COD's these days – not saying those games are the SUPER graphically demanding, but they certainly are for a lot of players out there, specially if they wanna be the slightest bit competitive and have decent and stable frame rates. That's partially what has been helping games like League or CSGO remain super popular.
