  1. So they got rid of the like/dislike bar, and got rid of the dislike counter…. What is the point of even having a dislike button?? Lmao – So now I can't even see if a video is a waste of my time or not

  2. My guess is Youtube doesn’t want to to be a search engine. They want to be a mindless stream of stimulation like Instagram and TikTok. That’s why Autoplay is enabled by default, why the default tab is recommendations and why shorts was copied.

  3. The most ridiculous is that it seems like Youtube didn't think it through. Besides everything said in the video, an obvious fact is that – it doesn't matter whether trolls see the dislike button or not, they will dislike the video if they want to, and they can find other ways to quantify their total dislikes, for example by liking their comment / post (on another platform).
Hiding the dislike counter will do TOO much harm and almost no good at all.

  4. I think this helps for the rising Youtubers to grow relatively better!! We all know that there are GIANT SHARKS with ton of subscribers and it matters to them. But this is a relief for the rising YouTubers!!

  5. Either have the like and dislike buttons (counts), or have neither. Only showing likes means nothing to a viewing if it isn’t in context/contrast to how many dislikes the video is given. Good stuff Marques.

  6. YouTube first took out the live sub count because of some dumb drama among youtubers, now its kind of the same with the dislike button, but this time they are taking more valuable information

  7. I think you're absolutely right. You literally just hit every point I was thinking about when I read the article that YouTube is getting rid of the dislike button. It is seriously a bad move on their part.

  8. Entertainment content it won’t matter. But skill based videos need a rating. If you are trying to learn something the information needs to be validated. The like, dislike ratio does this perfectly.

  9. i have come across so many stupid tutorial videos which are just click baits and the first clue i get that this video is a click bait is the like dislike ratio

  10. I think this is more big business driven than the feelings of creators. Besides, creators have the option to remove their negatively received content. This is going to affect how we watch YouTube; I always use that metric to determine if a video is worth it and it has never failed.

  11. The truth no matter what they say. Oversensitive corporations & governments threatened to pull advertising/funding if YouTube continued to allow people to criticize bad videos/statements/products.

Ridiculous decision. The like/dislike stats are incredibly useful for multiple reasons & very negatively impacts the users.

  12. I had so many thoughts during this and you basically ended up touching on every one of them. Terrible move it this is final, especially on tutorial/how to videos…

  13. YouTube is the only platform that still shows dislikes.
Facebook doesn't have, Instagram doesn't have it, TikTok doesn't have it.
Why do we need it on YouTube and not other platforms?
