  1. Summing up… Mini SE is a Mini 2 with mavic mini's 2.7k camera and transmission system. Motors, blades, ESC and Shell from mini 2.

  2. I would like to thank you Captain Drone!

I came here hoping to find my first drone at or around $300 or less ($200-$400 was my range). I've been doing some research for a few days and found (was eyeballing) the mavic mini. Then I saw your newest 5 drone review under $299 just 20 hours after you had posted it, and figured, "oh I'll get the newer SE". Then I watched this whole SE review and was like, "well I guess I'll get the mini 2".

Money was of decent concern, but I almost knew coming into this anything around the $0-150~200 mark would probably be a pretty crappy 'toy', and my primary purpose for seeking my introduction to "droning" is to capture awesome video and or pictures; and so I just knew a 'toy' would not make me happy.

I did fight myself a little on whether to just go with the SE (for $299) or the mini 2 (for $450). It then looked like an SE with a "fly more" bundle would be somewhere around $400/450, which I noticed was the mini 2 (by itself). Likewise I could add $150 to that and just get a mini 2 fly more, for $599!

So ultimately, I think the extra $150 from an SE "fly more", or an extra $300 from just the SE is going to be well worth it! It really sold me that the mini 2 has the 4k camera (vs the SE 2.7k), and I really liked the idea that it uses OcuSync 2.0 for that increased distance and reliability! And I could be mistaken but I believe the video bit rate on the SE is only 40mbit/s, as where the mini 2 has a bit rate up to 100 mbit/s (so it should all around produce significantly better video/photos than the SE)!

So while I initially was hoping to find something in the $200-400 range, I think the mini 2 (fly more), being just $200 higher than that – will be a GREAT first (and maybe last?) Drone for me 😀 and I owe it all to you and these TWO videos of yours!

    Thanks again!!!!!!!

  3. It's so quiet, it might sound noisy when it first takes off but just go 10m away and all you will hear is just a soft humming noise, pitty the birds still don't like it. I have had about 5 bird attacks and I've only had it for 3 days! ( no fatal attacks but scary and concerning all the same )

  4. My new DJI mini SE (fly more combo) just arrived yesterday, and I got a chance to fly it today, it is really good but one problem I had was not being able to go past 50m, so I looked into it and it turns out it comes set to beginner mode but nothing tells you how to turn it off. Does anyone know how to turn it off using the current version of the DJI fly (some show the old version for the Mavic Mini but the new one has a totally different layout)(ok, this is an edit I have found out how to fix this issue, simply restart the app, so log out, close the app and log back in again, this worked for me once but as soon as I changed the battery it went right back to its dirty old ways so I took it home and experimented a bit, turning things on and off to find out what had to be turned off for app to go back to its normal settings (not being able to go past 50m) Then after experimenting for a while nothing seemed to change it back! so I can now fly further than 50m ( I still have to go to a different location other than my house and see if this changes anything )(I will edit if anything changes.)

  5. Hiya Captain, Thanks for the GREAT vids and info can you tell me where to purchase xtra batteries for the MINI SE I LIVE IN THE UK Regards Dave Netherton UK

  6. Just bought my own Mini SE and, no carrying case, but the flights I've done so far have been great! It's quiet, the range is AMAZING, and I'm glad it's under the 250 gram rule. I had to take a local UAV safety test but it was free and only lasted 20 questions. This doesn't have a place if your looking at it from a pro user ownership perspective, but if you're a first time owner it's is just perfect!

  7. I Still Adore My DJI Spark Drone And Will Never Sell It Regardless Of Newer Technology, I Treat It Now Like Classic Car. At Night I fly It Because I Can See It In The Night Sky, And In Winter I Fly It Indoors, + The Kids Love All Those Other Special Features Which May Never Be Repeated Again, A One Off Drone Special.

  8. I'm aware that using the Mavic Mini battery in the SE increases it weight. But what is the effect of losing power mean? Less time, or slower flying?? Will using it damage the SE? Please advice me Mr Captain

  9. If I want to use headtracking goggle with Mini SE or Mini2, do I have a setup to do or it will connect automaticly?

  10. I will be getting one this week. I’m new with drones so I have to learn a lot with regulations, controls etc. You’ve explained the details easily and impressed what it can do. Thanks to this video!
