  1. Lol at everyone saying “Well the next pokemon game will surely be a masterpiece!” As if people havent been saying that every single time a new pokemon game comes out

  2. Wayyyyy to much hand holding for an “open world rpg”.
Absolutely scuffed, everything’s so sluggish and unnatural. Some folks might find enjoyment in this for a short while. Ain’t nothing will beat the feels of Pokémon mystery dungeon explorers of darkness/time or Pokémon ranger, soul silver, platinum, emerald and leaf green.

  3. Imagine this game made by Insomniac on ps5. This franchise just needs new, more competent developers behind it. Botw can pull off a better-looking open world with 200 shrines and puzzles 5 years ago. Look at immortal fenix rising, same thing. What we are seeing now with this pokemon game is a lack of talent.

  4. it boggles my mind how awful it is on a visual level. This stuff is so basic and they still fail on so many levels. Everything from human character animations (including the player character) being clunky, to pokemon still using the basic set of animations they made like a decade ago without really expanding on it to how awful the environment is design and is textured. Both on a technical and artistic level this is just disappointing.

  5. It's not about what this game lacks. It's about what it means for the future of Pokemon. This is easily a 8.5 – 9 for me personally. In my eyes Legends of Arceus has laid the perfect groundwork for what is to come. As others have stated the next step is to take these new mechanics into more populated environments with more battle opportunities. If Gamefreak can really build on what they have done here then hopefully Pokemon can evolve literally and figuratively into something amazing.

  6. The reason why its always “the next pokemon game will be great” is because nintendo knows they dont need to spend money on making the game great. People will buy any pokemon game they make

  7. Speaking as someone who neither has a Switch nor will likely play this, but does have a love in their heart for Pokémon, this looks to me like an excellent 1st step in the right direction that could lead to some utterly splendid Pokémon games down the line….assuming GameFreak doesn't just go "there we gave you your innovation for the decade now piss off."
