  1. I'm willing to take on all the compromises fast charging offers
A bigger charging brick is not something I'd carry in my pocket
A bigger phone doesn't bother me given even a "thick" phone can still easily fit in your pocket and I'm actively looking for 7 inch screens

  2. I’ll try to answer the question. Lets talk about the current #1 Smartphone market in the world which is India. Most of those comments posted saying “ phone will explode “ comes from Indians. In countries with extreme population, not all houses have proper electrical insulation and not everyone in India can afford to stay in an apartment or a house/bungalow. There are people living in extreme tiny houses and even roadside which doesn’t provide uniform flow of current. Android manufacturers promise faster charging but they can’t do anything about the non uniformity of electric flow which is why many such incidents happen in India. Even at my apartment in Mumbai, my iPhone Xr with 99% battery capacity charges from 0-100 in an hour and same with other gadgets. My iMac also gets static electrical issues.

  3. Imagine if we stopped wasting RnD money on faster charging and instead researched better batteries.

There are HUNDREDS of batteries that need more funding to get off the ground and yet here we are.
Great work Big tech u played yourself.

  4. Very nice video. Thank you very much! I have a pixel 6, and take advantage of the "charge before wake" or whatever it's called. I still don't find myself needing to charge throughout the day at all. Pretty neat!

  5. @Marques Brownlee@, you assume that battery degradation is linear, therefore claim that Apple outperform their claim, but that's not a fact

  6. Does it really matter, people change phones faster than batteries wear out.
My $200 phone with fast charging has a better battery than my wifes iphone 12, this is after only 2 years of use.

  7. My Motorola only has a 10 watt charger. But it has 10 hours of screen time so I rarely have to charge during the day.

  8. Another good point, I think, is some of these ultra fast charging phones have been around for at least over a year now and there haven’t been reports of the battery “dying” too early.

  9. But you can still change battery after degradation so that's a good trade for me. Fast charging is the best thing that happened to mobile phones in last few years

  10. The BEST information you can get???? You are a tech reviewer, how about actually do some reviewing? How about AB testing 10-15W vs super fast charging with two identical phones?
PCMark can drain battery to 20% in 6-8 hours, GFXBench even shorter.
If you spend literally 5-10 minutes per day to do that, you can cycle the battery up to 2.4 times per day. Do that for a month and come back with an answer instead of all talk no data.

  11. Fast charge it's a cool feature which shouldn't be used on a daily basis.. If you must then use the 120w charger if you are planning to be all day near you pc just slow charge your phone using a simple 5v port and a cable from your pc… Simple as that..

  12. How could wireless charging impact battery life? My S10+ heats up a fair bit on the back plate when it's charging. Is cable charging a better choice for the lifespan of a phone?

  13. What affect does Samsungs new Battery Saver function which only charges to 85%? Does it follow the same theory of electric cars, obviously very different battery structure.

  14. ive had my iphone 11 since december 2020 and im at 96% battery health. it does that thing where it slow charges overnight and estimates when it will reach 100% before i wake up. i imagine thats what helping it maintain a good life so far

  15. So I have a Xiaomi Redmi note 7 for 3,5 years and what's expected is battery damage because it's just an old phone… So I calculated the battery damage and it's like 39%… Yes the phone is overheating very easily… So if it's on 0% and I plug it in it's starts from 39% because the system recognizes the damaged parts as charged battery 😂

  16. "Then why would these companies keep doing this" 🙂 Funny you should ask, they would not sell that many phones otherwise 😏
The best example why we live in a consumerism era is that light bulb companies started this crap by making worse light bulbs 100 years ago, they all agreed on this, because the bulbs lasted "forever". They had to make fixed lifetime.
Mercedes almost went bankrupt with Cobra cars, they lasted too long. Laptop manufacturers had same "problem", first models were extremely long lasting.

You can't sell each year a new unit if you make too good products and too future proof. This goes best for Apple and Samsung who sell ridiculous amount of units and this goes even for car manufacturers.
They produce – we consume. This is how things go.
To be on subject: Batteries will wear faster, period. They have cycles and chemistry is prone to crystalizing if you charge too fast. But no one cares. Manufacturers don't care, each year new suckers will arise to buy. Maybe parents of children who die in Lithium ore mines might care, but not anyone else.
