Top 9 New Opel Cars Reviving the German Brand in 2020

Even though originally Opel was founded in 1863 as a manufacturer of sewing machines, we can still technically consider it as Germany’s oldest car maker, beating to the punch such old timers as Mercedes, Porsche, Audi and BMW. Today, the brand belongs to the French Groupe PSA sharing underpinnings with the Peugeot cars. In this episode we will take a look at the newest introductions form Opel, trying to decide whether their vehicles still carry German quality and sophistication.
By the way, if you live in the United Kingdom, then Opel is sold on your home market as Vauxhal with the identical lineup, so stay tuned and subscribe to #AutomotiveTerritoryDailyNews for all of your car content! Lets start the engines!

#1 2020 Opel Grandland X Hybrid

The very first model in Opel’s lineup to try out the PSA PHEV platform is the compact SUV Opel Grandland X Hybrid, which was introduced in 2-17 as a replacement for the Antara. The visual changes are nearly unnoticeable when compared to the standard model.

#2 2020 Opel Astra

In the 5th generation since 2015, both 2020 Opel Astra hatch and the Sports Tourer wagon are getting the predicted mid-cycle facelift this season. Both still sit on the old GM’s platform, but can now be recognized by the redesigned bumpers and updated grille patterns.

#3 2020 Opel Corsa-e

2020 Opel Corsa-e starts the electrification efforts for Opel, sharing its underpinnings with underpinning Peugeot’s own 208 hatch and 2008 subcompact crossover.

#4 Opel Insignia

Until Opel’s lineup is completely conquered by SUVs, Insignia remains the flagship model, making it worthy of a mid cycle facelift in 2020.

#5 2020 Opel Corsa

2020 Opel Corsa represents the 6th generation of the supermini, and it is the first model to be developed under PSA ownership. The car’s dimensions do not change much, though it does become the lightest Corsa model yet, losing about 108 kilos or 238 pounds.

#6 2020 Opel Zafira Life

While we expected to see the new version of the Zafira minivan, the 2020 Opel Zafira Life turned out to grow to the dimensions of a genuine passenger van, offering three lengths with up to nine seats.

#7 2020 Opel Corsa-e Rally

As Opel prepares to launch its first all-electric rally championship, named the ADAC e-Rally Cup, it continues developing and testing the Corsa e-Rally prototype that will compete in the race.

#8 2020 Opel CROSSLAND X

2020 Opel CROSSLAND X is the company’s smallest crossover, that targets such key segment rivals such as Nissan Juke and Renault Captur.

#9 2020 Vivaro, Movano and Combo

The entire lineup of Opel’s light commercial vehicles was refreshed throughout 2018 and 2019 model years, making their portfolio the youngest on the market. The Combo MPV, Vivaro panel van and Movano Full-Size Van are easily among the best sellers in the segment.

  1. Love the Opel line up. Personally I feel the company is much better off under PSA and has access to much more modern technology. Great move. Great cars

  2. Driving a Isginia GS. Good spacious car with no problems. Opels still made in Russelsheim in Germany and designed by Germans. Some
    engines from Peugeot, some GM/Opel.

  3. I believe that is a crash between American and Korean and Chinese car's. And there came Opel. They use to be nice car's. But i think that everything touched by the American automotive. Gets damage! Like Isuzu, Saab, Daewoo amongst other brand's.

  4. Good quality. I am a Opel driver but I don't think my next car will be a Opel again. Then new Corsa is a Peugeot. And the new Mokka is also a Peugeot. Opel buyers want GM looks but that is too late now. The Astra is not attractive in design and in price. The Crossland has the width of a Charlie Chaplin car. The Isignia is good since the facelift but it costs too much. The Grandland is cheaper but I don't need a suv. Where is the time Opel made coupes, and Mantas and Asconas and Calibras. Totally fucked up brand.

  5. Opel's purchase by PSA seems to mark the turning point for the brand, since the company is finally returning profits. What do you think about the new and redesigned Opel cars? Are they just rebadged Peugeots or do they still carry the unmistakable German feel?
