  1. Every manufacturer who brings portable devices on merket should use USB-C. Maybe even for video connection to replace hdmi🤷.

  2. Just as a proof lawmakers should be way more careful regulating tech… I’m honestly rooting for apple making a statement and delaying USB-C for one more year.

Then ship with MagSafe and then adding a USB-C port maybe another iPhone (probably not possible to go port-less and then bring it back) also hopefully they don’t pull a typical apple and only include ports on the Pro models LMAO

  3. geez they are really going to make it so you cant use headphones, first no headphone jack, now you need an adapter to the charging port, now there wont even be a charging port?! damn, i think that will be bad for Apple stock

  4. Type C technical limits are not close. It'd better tech than lighting and you can't trust corporations to do the good thing. This is a win. It's a win win win.

  5. I don't buy the "charging ports take up space" argument anymore. Phones have gotten so much bigger now and battery technology has gotten so much better that you can add larger capacities without dramatically increasing the physical size of the battery.

  6. I disagree with Marque's point at the end. This isn't an instance of the government prescriptively forcing a solution on Apple rather than letting their engineers work on it themselves. Apple is a major partner of the usb protocol. They were one of the main companies that worked on creating USB c, and the usb protocol has shown that it's faster and better at innovating cables than apple because they've moved on from micro usb while apple is stuck with the lightning port. I think it's absolutely fine for a government to mandate a tech solution when that solution is open source and has been developed by the combined efforts of the leaders in the industry.

  7. this doesn't mean that type C will stagnate, when everyone uses Type C the improvement of Type C would be priority for everyone to get competitive advantage.

  8. MKBD predicted a portless iPhone years ago and was wrong. He’s still wrong. If they make a portless iPhone I won’t buy it. What’s next, a MacBook without a keyboard because dust and dirt ruin user experience?
This is a company that has kept dedicated volume buttons and a silence mode switch on their phone the entire time it has existed. Why ruin a good and useful thing? Spite?!
Apple has been pushing USB-C everywhere else but iPhone. They’ll turn it into a selling point and brag how they made USB-C into what it is today with MacBook and iPad being trailblazers in their category.

  9. Could see Apple reserving the 'port-less' iPhone only for the Pro lineup. And using the USB-C port for the non-pro versions. Then enabling MagSafe to charge faster than USB-C and making it a 'feature' for the iPhone Pro.

  10. "It should be up to the engineers and innovators at these companies" – I'm not sure if Marques is trolling for Apple or if he's genuinely easily misdirected. Clearly, UBC-C is the standard that has already decided by said "engineers and innovators", just at every company except Apple .

Have more respect for your viewers Marques, if you're going to troll for Apple, at least be a bit clever about it.

  11. If Apple removes the port, I will leave the iPhone ecosystem for the first time after 14 years. If wireless charging was taking over the industry, then I’d get it. But it would create a massive barrier of entry for their users in general. And that would cost them a LOT of sales. Headphone jack wasn’t make or break because most users didn’t use a headphone jack and bluetooth technology in the industry had advanced enough to make the switch not so bad. But to go wireless only with the iPhone would be incredibly costly and I think a massive strategic mistake if they do it.

  12. All I know is my friends who have an android and type c charger, the end of their type c always ends up breaking for them or getting bent. Idk if it’s because the end is somewhat hollow or because the metal is just thin, same thing happened to be before I swapped from my old s8 to the 12, the charger was all loose and wobbly after half a year. I just don’t want to replace my cable every 6 months if they do a bad job with the type c in the future.

  13. Ipsw. If Apple goes portless, that opens a big can of worms especially on resets that require an encrypted BU or issues where wireless reload doesn’t work. I don’t foresee folks having to make Apple Store appointments to reload their iPhone.

  14. I don't know why Apple just comes up with a new evil plan every-time when people want them to do what we actually want?? Isn't that the same thing if I have to buy a new magsafe charger if there is no port?? How is that different from lightning?? I would still have 2 different charger for 2 different devices which equals more e-waste!!! Just fuckin give us a damn USB-C port so everyone is happy!!! Oh and if you wanna make money of it, just call it a made for iPhone accessories compatible.. tech companies would still have to pay for made for iPhone certification just like usb c to c gives to PD and Quick Change if it's compatible…

  15. I honestly don't see them changing to completely wireless, it's slower charging and data sharing speeds even with the most advanced technology. Also, while sure, the iPhone 17 is the one they will sell when the legislation comes, Apple always sells previous versions at a discounted price, so I'd say, the iPhone 16 is, at best, the iPhone where they have to make the change, I'd it's not the 15, giving no time to do the proper switch, to me, it seems they will go for wireless but they'll have to make a usb-c version, at least momentarily, so they can comply with the EU

  16. The people who are all for this are just so pompous and smug. I honestly don’t even care how Apple finds a loophole in this law, but I really hope they do.

  17. I don't care about wired or wireless charging. I mostly charge wireless without magsafe but what is a complete dealbreaker for me is removing the data port. my car uses carplay via wired connection and I want to transfer photos quick onto my pc
maybe time to change the ecosystem then because buying a new car and changing to mac is not an option especially not when the only reason is the charging port on my phone

  18. Magsafe IS wired charging. There's no hole, but it MUST be connected with a wire.
And it takes up space inside the iphone, probably more than lightning.

  19. An apple executive saying what and what not the EU should make laws about gives me the creeps. Its a democratic decision. Apple should shut the fxck up about this kind of shit

  20. The lightning port isn't just for charging however, data transfers is still a thing and transferring movies wirelessly is still not quite optimal.

  21. The initial implementation of Apple Car currently requires a wired data connection. As far as I know the current magsafe does not support data transfer, so a magsafe/portless iPhone simply wouldn't work on those millions of cars. I do not see Apple cutting itself off of the millions of vehicules already in circulation. Unless they turn magsafe on all portless devices as a data transfer interface.
In any case, MagSafe currently is less physically secured, will generate tons of avoidable waste (magnets in every case anyone?), is proprietary to the point that its cables can't have adapters to go usb type C or Garmin for example as is the lightning one.

  22. It's an interesting concept, a portless phone. For my daily life I can't see it working for me. I wouldn't want to keep wireless charger with me for a quick charge if I need it during the day.

  23. At one point apple say they don't want "E-WASTE" for which they don't provide the charging brick and on the other hand they switched the cable to USB type C to lighting which mean you need a charging brick anyways if you using old charging brick with USB type A. How does Apple is avoiding "E-WASTE" instead they are making it marketing strategy to sell their charging brick separately!! 🤷🏻‍♂️
