  1. That lie angle sure needs to be looked at and increased length For sure.
He needed this fitting for sure.
I like more bounce for me too.
Vokey’s never seem to be the wedge for me.
Using Ping Glide 4.0 now and I like them.

  2. I've had fits all over, golf pros, golf town, pga superstore etc. This channel makes me feel like every single one was a rip off lol. You know so much more about golf clubs than anywhere I've been and even anything I've seen on YouTube. Its not even fair.

  3. As much as i adore all these vids by TXG i thought this one was very underwhelming. I personally think getting into wedge fittings for amatuers is going a bit overboard. IMO 80% or more of amatuers would never notice these little tweaks here or there on a 5-75 yrd club. Of course you need proper bounce for your swing but why bend a 54 to a 56 creating more bounce instead of just using a 56 vokey with more bounce? They make 6 diff grinds for this reason.
Case in point. Marques says he doesnt really hit to many full shots with wedges. Before tweaks he was inconsistent at 75-100 yrds. After tweaks he was inconsistent at 75-100 yrds. What changed?
I also understand we are seeing 20 mins of maybe a 2 hr fitting so face value is maybe not final vision.
I think clubs fittings are an extremely valuable aspect of playing your best golf and have been fit in last 8 months for driver, 5 wood, 4 hybrid and irons, but i draw the line there. A 1-2 degree tweak on a wedge isnt fixxing a poor wedge swing. A tweak to putters isnt fixxing poor putting mechanics, practice is. If you cant hit a green at 75 yrds with a 56 wedge you need to fix your swing, not tweak the club.
If someone can explain what im missing in wedge and putter fittings that im just not seeing im all ears.

  4. Ian, I get the whole idea of similar gaps but did you go right to 62 instead of 60 and narrower gaps? For a shorter hitter than MKBHD, would you start with the PW distance and then 50, etc? I’m trying to decide this now and decide between a 58 and 60 with 120 yard 50, and 105 yard 54.

  5. With how great he does everything else, I was surprised by his lack of accuracy with his wedges. I was also surprised you didn't make his clubs more then 1/2" longer. I hoped to hear some commentary on why only 1/2".

  6. Why go over 60 degrees? I feel like tightening up the spacing from 50-60 with 3 wedges would make more sense. Can always open up a 60 to achieve 62 degree results.

  7. interesting to learn his wedge degrees. My driver and iron distance is very similar to his, but I carry a 48 degree pitch(145yds), 52 gap(125yds), and 58 sand/lob(100yds). been wanting to take that 48 to a 46 but cant find a local shop to bend it for me and cant afford a new wedge.

  8. Wow this explains why I hit my 56 further than my 52 it has 14 degrees of bounce vs 8 on the 52, I absolutely love my 56. Looks like I will never buy a wedge with less than 12 bounce now

  9. Interesting on going with the set gap wedge. I actually dropped my set pw on my mizuno 225s and put in a 46deg sm9. I've been really enjoying both the 225s and sm9.

  10. Marques all your full strokes looked beautiful but your wedges look like the club is way too heavy for you. What is that little floppy motion happening bro idek I can't stand it it's hard to watch I'm sorry for being so mean it's so just sksnbdjw

  11. Marques has a pretty unconventional short game swing when chipping at start of vid but looks like it works for him. No real chest turn and looks like he flips at impact and hands too close to left thigh on follow through

  12. Would love to see Marques out on the course in a vlog, or showing it from his editing viewpoint.

And the inevitable geeking out on arccos on his channel… 🤞

  13. I would have liked to have seen some shaft discussion for the wedges, whether they go modus wedge/S400/stock since the rest of the series has been so educational and good at highlighting those differences!

  14. Vokey wedges are a good pick… not because they are good clubs, but because they come in matte black. Matte black everything!

  15. Marques has a high ceiling, hits it miles, strikes irons great, hardly missed a putt from 12ft in testing and is confident around the green. He’d be a 3 or 4 easy if he played a lot.

I play all the time and have managed to get down to 5 but he’s more talented and has physical gifts I don’t have.

  16. Do faster swing speed players use the same shafts that are in their irons, stock, or need to test different shafts for wedges specifically? Curious as to what wedge shafts you’re going with for Marques.

  17. Love this series with Marques! I personally went with the set gap wedge over the specialty as well. I think we'll see a lot more of it as manufacturers have improved their gap wedges

  18. Ian is indeed a master fitter. To have such a comprehensive understanding of each club in the bag….what a treat to experience! I had no idea the wedge is suppose to be struck on the 3rd groove….mind blowing 🤯

  19. this mkbhd series is a set of videos finally worth watching since matt left. lets see more videos if Ian fitting customers

  20. Yes, bad technique on the wedge shots causing that extreme toe down. Put the ball a little further away from the body, and learn to extend through impact and that will neutralize right out.

  21. I just noticed his bent front arm. And he scoops at the ball. It’s cool how it works for him, though. I always expected that you really need your leading arm to be straighter and stiffer.

  22. Just curious if anyone has had any feedback on having wedge fittings hitting off the mat and how things may or may not have changed once used on the course with real grass interaction
