  1. I will say the biggest problem with transparency mode s that when one of the components starts to go they’re basically unusable. I had the original AirPods Pro’s and either the microphone or a processing component crapped out and there was constant feedback because of it. That was only 2 or so years into owning them too. I switched to the go linkbuds for earbuds and I prefer them a lot. If I want to devote more of my attention to really enjoying music I’ll put on a proper set of headphones, but for like walking out and about on the street I really like open back buds.

  2. One advantage to the open hole headphones is that your ears won't get as hot or itchy. And if they do then you can reach in there and scratch them. That's about it though 😅

  3. As someone who just got the wireless Porta Pro's. They fit this role perfectly. Could wear those for the full 20hrs and barely notice them, sound great, and dont leak really at all as long as your not blasting them (70%+)

  4. You forgot that a big reason for wanting open ear headphones/earbuds, for many people (like me) is that they get ear ache from buds that poke into the ear. (for me it causes serious problems with my ears and I literally can't put things on that poke into my ear.)

  5. The headphones w/ center hole design was giving me baffling danger signals, then I realized those nice smooth holes, right there, are gonna be irresistible for some kinds of people to put their finger into when you're concentrating on your work. They demand a level of maturity in the local culture I'm not sure is attainable.

  6. You should break the rating into spoken word sound quality, and music sound quality. People that are looking for headphones and earbuds for work. Don’t care about the bass — care more about the clarity.

  7. Your comparison of modern headphones transparency modes vs. Open Backs is pretty flawed. The massive benefit of open back headphones is the increased sound stage you will have over closed back headphones. The bleed, and passthrough is often seen as a bad thing in audiophile world as you basically need to listen in a quiet room.

You could argue that none of these products are "audiophile" headphones and are trying to solve issues you pointed out in the video, but working in an office these are barely real issues. To me this video felt under researched.

  8. I've been using the linkbuds with the hole for 1.5 years. Super useful in office as I like listening to music while working, but also have calls to take, and need to be able to easily talk to coworkers sitting nearby. Main benefit over transparency mode on closed earphones was that I did not feel ear fatigue because there is no artificial air pressure. Unfortunately one ear stopped working 2 months ago.
