Defense contractors also charge 300 bucks for a bolt. If you want the nut to go with that bolt it will be another 150 bucks.

The parts might not be worth $80K but the R n D that went into building this thing would cost a lot so the company needs to make that money back. Same with any product that isn't crowdfunded. Its not like they could sell them to the public either so a small dictated market means the price needs to go up.
Cost more than my house? What is the cost of living in Australia? Your gonna have to multiply that price by 3 to get at the median home value in the US
