There’s a few words that Apple literally never says on stage. Just something interesting I noticed MKBHD Merch: http://shop.

  1. So what is it AR or VR or can you switch? It seems to have elements of both. Will it show every object in the room or reproduce it? The AR looked cartoonish as if everything is reproduced. If that's the case why so many front facing cameras? This something I'd have to try before I buy.

  2. It's not just about controlling their brand, but also training their audience to think qualitatively rather than quantitatively, artistically rather than rationally. Their greatest success: they managed to make the word "PC (personal computer)" into the exact opposite of what they are selling, even when their CPU was literally called "PowerPC". Computers? Not us. We make fairy dust! (P.S. Fairy dust costs extra.)

  3. I hate how no one's talking about how inconvenient it is to keep carrying the battery… for me, it's make or break feature. I owned both Quest 2 and Valve index. Valve index is better in every way. I only use Quest 2 for the embedded battery. Carrying battery is unacceptable under any circumstances… especially for AR like systems…

  4. They avoid saying AI because technically AI refers to what people call strong AI or Artificial General Intelligence i.e. the thinking kind. What passes for AI these days are just ANN based ML models

  5. So true, I start to be tired of Apple. They become what they targeted in the 1984 ad. Except maybe the vr headset, might be fun to try.

  6. Besides, there are a lot of words that they say every time, like "the best ever", "most amazing", "something only Apple can do", "biggest ever", "incredible", "we love to…", which is just underlining that they updated the old product therefore thet are better than the last-year-ones, but that shows their incredible confidence. Those are words that basically shows that they are still developing, like a snowball, even if the development is (sometimes) minor. It is obvious yet they do it, every time, since I can remember… 🙂
I would also like to point out that Apple became the Big Brother from the "1984" and their Macintosh ad from back in the day. Joining their ecosystem, it is practically impossible to leave it. Through their products Apple promises us technological convenience and better future and closes their consumers in a golden cage. Now with the Vision Pro, they want to keep us at home and with the displays just in front of our eyes. I am really afraid of the future when Apple shows us a computer that you can wear on your face creating a movie theater or sports venue at home so you don't have to go anywhere, but you can still look through and "interact" with others… The VR business will explode now, it always is so when Apple start to produce some new devices. It is a sad and dystopian truth, sorry guys!

  7. It’s all about creating powerful brands. People don’t do video chat anymore, they get on FaceTime lol. That’s why Apple pushed the term “spatial computing” so hard while pretending that VR isn’t already a term đŸ€·đŸœâ€â™‚ïž

  8. Not comparing yourself is very common for market leaders
you generally only find 2nd and 3rd place comparing themselves and by doing so it cements their place in the market. Coke never mentions Pepsi but Pepsi has always compared itself to Coke.

  9. For a long time Apple explicitly didn’t used the word laptop. They would always say notebooks. I don’t know when they started using laptops but it wasn’t always the case

  10. The problem with AI and usage of the word Intelligence is the connotation of the word Intelligence itself. Folks tend to forget the other word – Artificial. Which means it is not real and can never be real.
Like artificial sugar will always be artificial – it will never have the functionality of real sugar which helps transport energy in body. It will just give some fake sweetness. And that is also very much detectable by any human who consumes it.
So AI will always be artificial – it will never achieve self cognition that real intelligence already has.
But there are folks, many top ones in the industry and many fake experts, that associate AI with intelligence that will become self-aware some day. It is very annoying when these folks spread FUD on AI, which in turn provokes those that now have to fight this misinformation.
AI is purely ML – and it will never become self-aware.
This is not reddit. So I will not be downvoted, but let me see who here tries to educate/enlighten me now.

  11. You say they don’t mention other companies, but really they love to talk about partners that lift their brand. Disney, the game company they had come up. Of course, always HermĂ©s.

  12. Why do it different, they have people who are going to buy there stuff. There advertising has and remains there biggest strength something i dont think other companies could copy

  13. There is no point in comparing mAh's of an iPhone to an Android device. Even if they both had 2000 mAh batts – they would each consume power at different rates.

  14. Now we know why apple products are so expensive.. It's not because their hardware is better than everyone else or they would do the comparison. It's for the office full of marketing people trying to think up trademarkable names for benign every day terms.

  15. About the AI thing, Apple is sadly the only company who uses the "correct terms" because everybody else throws the buzzword "AI" to refer to everything from neural networks to machine learning to large language models. It's a bit nice not being treated like an idiot who has no idea what words mean.
