  1. I feel like one of the main reasons why Apple has the subscription-based version of Final Cut Pro on iPad is to get more people familiar with it and buy it on Mac outright with it being the education edition or just the $299 standalone version (I would recommend the education edition just because you're getting the full version of 5 pro apps from apple) the 5 apps are Final Cut Pro, Motion, Logic Pro, Compressor and Mainstage and your saving so much money doing it this way ) the link for the education edition.

I also wish at some point they would add the other pro apps that they have Motion, Compressor and Mainstage to the iPad, but I guess that it won't happen just because maybe the iPad can't handle it properly like the MacBooks can.

But all of this is just my thoughts and opinions.

  2. It already has photoshop and illustrator, which are pro apps aimed at graphic designers, who are professionals, which is sufficient enough to call it a pro device. You can't expect a full fledged professional video editing software to work on a handheld tab to call it a pro device. imovie is there for a tab.

  3. as a user – no, it doesn't seem offer a seamless "start one project on the mac/ipad, then port/export the project over to your ipad/mac to continue working" or vice versa, it's very much a nerfed experience, especially with the lack of external SSD support.

  4. My nail in the coffin on this for me (relative to something like DaVinci Resolve) is the External SSD editing, 1. I hate any artificial limitations that may be attempting to influence me to have to cough up more cash for a larger internal SSD and 2. if I can't easily switch between the Mac and the iPad for projects, it kind-of defeats their intent to position the iPad as a "supplemental" editing machine when you're away from your Mac. I mean Apple clearly doesn't want the iPad to be your main editing rig, but if you're going to force me to use a more limited version of a program that offers little benefit over its full-version MacOS counterpart, don't build in limitations that prevent me from hopping between machines.

  5. 3:33 – Not really 1:1 but iMovie on the mac at one point use to be more advanced and was later made simpler UI wise so sure? under the hood mac iMovie is way more powerful. Also wanted to mention, that with sideloading, maybe it will be easier to find final cut extensions for the iPad

  6. The M1 ipads are litrally a laptop in a small way. They are powerful than most laptops the only downside is that you may not be able to run other high end programs that aren't supported yet

  7. are you guys nuts? yes it is not true autosave like fcpx, but you can set exactly how often premiere will autosave your project, you want every other minute? you can have it, just go to the settings. The amount of autosaves – the backlog amount can also be set too. All you need is to go to the settings and set it. You can't just kinda rant on the default behaviour because you don't know other

  8. I have been following Marques for a very long time. I could never afford an apple mac book or ipad pro. I know everything about them though because of him.
Thanks for being someone positive and informative.

  9. I have the ipad 12 pro, No M1. I am moving my whole workflow to Davinci Resolve for desktop and on the ipad because its free and is much better all around. Apple is slackin to hard.

  10. It is so frustrating that people who are supposed to be professionals, don’t know basic things about software like Premiere. You can set how often and how many auto saves want in the main preferences menu it’s called auto saves.

  11. This is just a test. If Apple realises that their subscription model works they will bring it to all of the other pieces of software that they produce.

  12. "why is it called iPad Pro when there is no pro apps" is the most ridiculous and stupid thing you can say as someone who says they know stuff about technology.
There are TONS and tons of pro apps for the iPad. FinalCut and Logic are like relevant for 0.1% of iPad Pro buyers. Those two are NOT the only "pro" apps on the iPad. You're not the majority of users when you edit videos.

Also saying that "it's only for the Apple Silicon iPads". You know that literally ALL iPads in existence are using Apple Silicon?

  13. I hope someone's said that Premiere auto-save frequency can be adjusted in preferences. Can autosave every minute and multiple versions, which would put it above FCPX in that you can go back to previous versions if you add in a buggy plug-in.

Also, the auto-saves folder is right next to the project folder, which Premiere asks for a location immediately when you make a new project.

Not a fanboy, but can't have folks going around with inaccurate information.
