  1. MAKE SURE YOU WEAR HEADPHONES OR EARBUDS FOR THIS ONE! BOTH OF THEM!
? QOTD: Did you notice this problem with smartphone speakers before? Does it bother you knowing that companies are giving you a subpar sound experience hidden behind clever marketing? Are you disappointed that the Google Pixel 4 is adopting this style as well and do you think they'll be able to do it better? Let me know!

  2. I was thinking. This idea make more sense on a folding phone/tablet. Have dual speaker on the bottom and top and combine with sound on display then it will sound significantly better. The speakers on the top and bottom can be for the highs and the screen can handle the fullness

  3. Seriously, you make really good, thought out, informative and practical videos. I wonder why you don't have more subs, you definately deserve more man. Thumbs up bro and keep up the great work ??????

  4. my pixel 2 I have hated the speaker setup from day one, bottom speaker is by far louder and has always left the top ear piece rattling at anything over 70% volume. I have seen the Huawei mate 20x 5g. has 2 equal speakers? are you able to test this device?? great video as always!

  5. I don't understand why companies are doing all the stunts with the front-facing camera (hole, cutout, motorised, back-flipping) now. Just put a large speaker at the top and add the camera next to it. I have seen no one complaining about having a quality speaker at the top. No notch, good stereo sounds, no space is wasted. What's wrong with that?

  6. 100% agree with you.. I love the speakers of the pixel 2 xl and i'm a little upset that the pixel 4 don't have front stereo speakers.

    Btw nice video Brandon !

  7. My thoughts, I really barely use the smartphone speakers. The quality is too bad, and it is impossible to create a fuller sound on a device with such a small form-factor. So, I would rather have them improve the audio out of headphones.
About that, notice how when you plug in your headphones on your laptop, the sound is better than when you plug in the same headphones to your smartphone.

  8. I can't tell you how much I agree with everything you said, who cares if your entire front of your phone is a screen. Not me I would take two small bezels on either end with two stereo front-facing speakers please I beg of you phone companies.

  9. @This Is Tech Today .. yeah, I'm getting tired of all the compromising being done with devices .. do manufacturers really have to make sacrifices to give consumers what we want in devices ?
If so , which seems to be the case, why are manufacturers and companies advertising and misleading consumers , telling us it's Dolby sound, but neglect to talk or tell it's not 100 percent as advertised or written on the box of the devices ..
I guess it's that all mighty dollar and not integrity ..
Gotta do your own research to know what you're actually getting ..
Good analysis and video job .. keep up the great work ???? ..

  10. Proud to say I'm watching this on Nexus 6P with dual front-facing speakers. I'm probably going to get the Pixel 4, but I have to say that I'll probably continue to use the 6P for at-home YouTube consumption, even after I get a new phone.

  11. Doesn't it mean that if I'm watching it in portrait mode the tweeter and woofer would be in the right position you just have the problem in landscape. I watch YouTube, instagram tv , or Tim tok , while I totally agree with you about the sound quality. On my pixel one xl it was unbalanced untill I got a boxy case which directed it to me made it seem way louder and clear. Hope you have good day and keep up the great work

  12. cmon you are a sound designer, you know that you cant actually tell a mono SPEAKER from a stereo one on a smartphone scale. you can tell on sounds better, but you cant tell the "mono-stereo". because like you said in the beginning – " you need to wear headphones". and you shouldve stopped there. as soon as you wear headphone, the phone becomes stereo even if it has mono speakers. this rant was out of touch with real world applications.

  13. Great video. The exclusion of dual front firing speakers with the new pixel is terrible. For the price of these flagship phones they should offer us the best audio experience available. We shouldn't have to rely on a Bluetooth speaker for audio when we pay a grand for the phone.

  14. I agree the sound is slacking on smartphones.

Even the aux DAC is not good on iPhones.

I used to have a 40€ Sansa Clip flac player and it was way better.

  15. Now I just upgraded from a mid-tier phone so I'm grateful for my OnePlus 7 Pro speakers but I don't think that's an excuse for poor speakers. Now I also think that there's a give and take with the smartphone design because some people would like a full screen with slightly less quality speakers and others would like better speakers at the sacrifice of a full screen. I think it depends on the person. Personally, I don't mind the speaker quality. It's okay, could be better but not a deal breaker for me.

Great video! I love the way you speak your mind and back it up with honest facts. Can't wait for the next one. ??

  16. Phones aren't designed to be used as media devices that's why they skimp on the speakers. Who listens to music on their phone without headphones realistically?

  17. I agree! They are attempting to make it barely passable as stereo utilizing the higher frequencies only. But at least it is better than mono alone. Waiting for a 2.1 sound system using the display exciter drivers. Using the display vibrating speakers for left and right and the ported dynamic driver for the "lower frequencies". At least you would have identical left and right midrange-high frequencies that way. That leaves room for the laser projector module and quad 32 bit DAC and headphone jack with optional balanced output for pro-audio. 😛

I would flatten my wallet for that any day.
