No matter how hard Toyota has been trying to postpone the transition to fully electric vehicles, there is no saving from an upcoming EV tsunami, so the Japanese giant is previewing their battery powered future by showing off a luxury Lexus LF30 of the 2030s.

Announced to go on sale in 2020, Mazda MX-30 is the first all-electric crossover from the Japanese brand that debuts the Mazda-developed SkyActiv Vehicle Architecture and E drive. It is also rumored that the new MX-30 will arrive in a PHEV modification, with a first Mazda rotary engine since 2012 serving as a range extender.

Its lithium-ion battery is located under the floor and is paired with a compact gas turbine engine-generator that can run on diesel, kerosene and alcohol. 2020 Volvo XC40 Recharge is built on the Common Modular Architecture from XC40 as it supports internal combustion, PHEV, and fully electric powertrains. Its 78-kWh battery is integrated into the floor and is encased in aluminum safety cage. The pack powers a duo of electric motors, reported to produce 402 horses and 487 lb-ft of torque. The XC40 Recharge will be priced around $60,000 before incentives, and will hit the market before the end of 2020.

While we are still waiting for the details of the Tesla’s first electric pickup to be revealed, the Michigan-based startup Bollinger has already presented the B2 electric truck along with the B1 SUV. The models will be powered by a 614-hp dual-motor AWD setup and will offer 200 miles of range. However, with the expected pricing from $125,000, their future sales prospects are rather bleak.

  2. Wish Honda would do more. I love my RSX if they could bring back a similar body as a EV i feel like people would buy the hell out of them. I don't think those trucks are gonna sell at their price. You could get a base model Taycan or a Model X for less.
