  1. Thanks for watching my Xperia 5 IV review! Currently working on the Pixel 7/7 Pro, hoping to get some in-depth thoughts live soon, but my unboxings and early impressions will be live tomorrow 😉

  2. I've been using Sony phones from a long time now, I'd say, since the Ericsson days and I still am using one right now. These new phones are actually very tempting but the price tag they put and the software support period they provide are the deal breakers for me. It's like, I can't afford them the time they get released and by the time they drop the price and I can finally afford, the device's software support is nearing its final stage. Been like this for any Sony phone I ever owned. I'm sadly breaking the loyalty and moving to Pixel for my next phone cause of these same reasons.

  3. The only big downfall on the 5 IV is the SoC Sony is using. Now that the new Pixel 7 series have been announced, it makes the decision even harder. Go for the computational photography on the Pixel or the more natural looking photography on the Sony?

Sony offering 3 os updates and Google offering 3 os updates actually makes the Pixel the loser here. You would expect the developers of Android to support their devices longer, but that's not the case.

  4. Great video Chris, I still have the Xperia 5 from 3 years ago and its still working great.
Doesn't seem to be that much difference between the Four Xperia 5 line up.
What would you like to have seen more. Cheers 👍

  5. Personally considering a 10 IV, since 5 IV is on the more expensive side here in Ukraine due to all kinds of reasons. Hope to see a proper review of that one at some point.

  6. If they had the price point nearer to the Pixel 7 then I would buy it.
But speaking of the Pixel 7, I am holding off until reviews come out. Because Google refusing to allow reviews early is slightly concerning me.

  7. The heat issue is a dealbreaker for me. Otherwise I would jump on it. Really hoping they fix this with the next one. Continuous optical zoom would be really nice to have as well, but I get it, that would mean a higher price tag.

    Edit:
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 should finally solve the heat issue.

  8. Would a Sony xperia 1 mk3 be a good upgrade from a pixel 2xl? The 1mk3 is currently $100 less than the 5mk4. I'm concerned with the overheating issues the mk4 series has been having.

  9. From what I've seen in your videos Sony's cameras seem to deliver the most natural and true to life results of any smartphones. Most rivals tend to look over-processed to my eyes. Maybe that's what some people want, but I prefer things to look the way they look, rather than excessively contrast-y, saturated or sharp.

  10. Finally the Sony 5IV test!😀
Having already tested the Zenfone 9, which one is your favourite in the compact smartphone category?
As usual, a very good review!👍

  11. Hey Chris great review as always tempted no as I'm poor I see Sony still has a overheating problem when you shoot in 4k do you know what doesn't overheat when shooting in 4k that's right my redmi note 10 Pro with its 108,mega pixel camera OK that's enough of me see you in a couple of weeks you part-timer

  12. As someone who swapped from Realme 7 to Sony Xperia 10 IV this year, I think I regret not getting 5 IV but as a phone for general everyday use and my tight wallet I think I'm grateful with my Xperia 10 IV with my Linkbuds S

  13. As a child of Tain, I appreciate your Glenmorangie reference.
Also, continuing the theme of niche references, your dogged persistence in reviewing every Sony phone despite their abysmal sales figures is to be merited.

  14. Can someone recommend me a good phone? I want a phone with decent camera that can capture decent picture at any mode. Budget 300 usd. I've thought of going with Xiaomi 11 Lite NE but backed out after reading the numerous bad reviews regarding the hardware online. So I'm confused. My current phone is Poco X1 (which is still amazing btw! I'm giving this to my niece) so after I change I won't be changing for a min of 5 years. I'm open to suggestions

  15. Chinese manufacturers and Apple and Google only dream about building to this level of quality. Especially Samsung, back in the early days of smartphones it was Sony then LG for real quality then everyone else were just wannabes . Samsung used to be a plastic fantastic mess . Now they seem to put glass around the same level of quality.
