It does feel that the era of small cars is coming to an end, due to the booming popularity of compact SUVs and crossovers that provide additional comfort while remaining rather affordable. But one of the successful strategies that manufacturers came up with to bump up small cars sales was to make them more powerful, agile, faster and turn them into true sports vehicles. As a result, consumers got GTI, Sport, ST, RX and other Rrrr trims of automobiles that reinvented base models altogether and are so charged that can compete with mighty V8 monsters. Today we are going to review the best of the tiny, though extremely capable sports four-wheelers, that are awfully underestimated by the US consumers, but are still fighting a tough battle against other classes on city streets and highways around the globe.
