Back 4 Blood Review - The Final Verdict

When it comes down to it, Back 4 Blood is virtually everything I could have wanted in a Left 4 Dead 3. Turtle Rock has taken everything they did in the original …

  1. I think the special ridden are getting a hard time. The variable boomers are good; never always know whether they are bile or explosive. The Tall men mechanically act a bit like chargers but with more of a surprising range to them. The wall pods are a nice, new idea punishing those who loot up on their own. Crows are a nice evolution of witches. Ogres are effectively tanks, I simply wish they were not as big so they had more map flexibility. I feel they were designed for marketing. My main real comparative gripe is that the basic zombie horde never feels as threatening as L4D; maybe it is simply to do with engine numbers.

THE REAL issue with B4B is that the Unreal engine has never had satisfying Gun/aim feeling. It's always a bit stiff and yet muddy and slidey. With this i can see why valve supposedly canned L4D 3 due to not being able to decide what engine to run it on. There choice was to probably spend resources to tool up the source engine for modern consoles or use Unreal. And thus we do not have L4D 3.

  2. They ruined this game with all the stuff that slows down the pace. Way too much having to stop and consider way to many things while respawn if enemies continue to come. Not as fun as the old ones where skill was the challenge not team management and lack of ammo.

  3. If B4B is everything a L4D-game would be when brought to the new consoles, it would have at least next-gen-graphics.
This looks as hollow and empty as the original L4D.

  4. The solo block is exactly what its suppose to be. Left 4 dead in the same was meant to be a team based game to the extreme. Playing solo dosent give you that nighgmare difficulty sense of accomplishment. The real con of the game is the revolutionary ideas l4d 2 had. Remember running threw the hurricane from start to finish? Or the cut scenes that didnt feel like cut scenes? Id say this get a extra .5. Due it being a true co op strategy game.(Capcom should sue the shit out of them over character design though)😂

  5. Things i heard people complaining about:

    Too buggy and laggy
Well most AAA games are like that now a days and to be fair its day one seemed to have gone better than most others and can always be patched

Its just not as good as lfd2 for x reasons
Well lfd2 may be a masterpiece
a lot of reviews comparing this to left 4 dead since its made by the same studio and they are similar games. I completely understand this approach but I do feel it impacts people's critique a little too much and ruins it for others

    Not worth the price
Well even though some AAA games arent worth the price i feel like this should be since they clearly worked harder than most others lile Activision or ubisoft
Also some games are going as high as 70 dollars now despite not even needing it to be that high so i think the price is fair

Difficulty is way too high for recruit
It may suck they made it like that but im sure they're gonna fix it

Listen people just give it time and i think we'll all agree its a worthy successor

  6. Like this game but no versus campaign is ridiculous. Also it lacks so much personality. Tank and witch were so iconic but this has none of those. There’s nothing like The sounds of hunter jumping across buildings or witch’s crying or tanks music. It’s lacking so much banter between characters too. I miss the finales where you have to hold up for a few waves then rush across the map to the escape and narrowly avoid danger. Those moments where the smoker catches you just before you get in the helicopter but you tell your friends to leave you 😂 this game had none of those feelings and I bought the $120 version

  7. If this wasn't on game pass, I wouldn't have bothered with it. I played the heck out of beta hoping they would make it better with each test but even with the release the issues are pretty glaring. I hope the game gets better as time goes on but there's just some obnoxious issues like online only, singleplayer feeling empty with bots that have ai even worse then L4D's. None of my friends unfortunately have any interest in the game so the fact I can't earn supply points in sinlgeplayer is already a huge turn off and it makes me question many of the dev's decisions. Unless they plan on monetizing cosmetics, there's literally 0 reason to keep the game online only.
