  1. Nonsense.
What’s the point of making this metaverse exactly the same as the real one? with the same consuming mentality. The fun is over!.
In a virtual world people should be able to have fun with endless possibilities. That thing about buying land and properties and companies charging for every single experience or people getting charged to get into a bar and all this making money machinery inside the metaverse is going to ruin peoples pockets and the fun. People will not be happy about that. The same way people hate those cellphones games when you play one level and you have to pay for the second one or watch a commercial to keep playing. It will be a boring idiotic metaverse.
Companies that want to create an experience in the metaverse should focus on giving people freedom and free access to that experience. What they can do is add advertising of their business inside that metaverse for the people to consume in the real one without affecting the experience.

Example: The NBA opens a stadium in the metaverse and charge people to see games.
Why am I going to pay to see avatars playing?
No, the fun is to let users play with avatars from real players, like a game, and what the NBA can do is to add advertising inside the stadium for people to see coming events in the real world.

Or the guy who wants to charge people to get inside his bar in the metaverse should give free access instead. If we wants to make money, he can offer a company like COCA-COLA to put a poster inside the bar for certain amount of money. So people can buy coca-cola in the real world

If I have to pay to a company to go to Egypt in the metaverse , I prefer to pay to go in the real world.
For example, if American Airlines decide we are going to create an experience of taking people anywhere in the world in the metaverse. So they recreate cities all over the world and they take you in a plane to see the city of your choice.
    This should be free.
What AA can do is to add advertising of their business inside the metaverse plane, like discounts, coupons or services that people can use in the real world.
Or charge companies that want to advertise inside the plane according to the amount of people that are accessing this experience.

Anyway, if this metaverse is going to be the same as the real world, is going to be another jail for humanity, it will be a disaster.

  2. So this is what is happening while I was doing other things , as a senior citizen aka ageing hippy there was an old adage : Nothing new under the Sun : has expired !

  3. Any one here in 2022 after the Oscar's, and at the sight of will smith's face ,triggered the sudden desire to be Chris Rock in virtual reality…..or vice versa.

  4. Our world is gonna become só artificial, only the upper middleclass will be able to live this life…it's too far removed from nature, I hope it never succeeds into mass populism.

  5. The Metaverse is also just another market to control people, make money and isolate people… and so the race begins to see who can build the best metaverse to control them all.

  6. Oh my god, I can't believe this is seven years old speech ,it looks like the one which is been given after Facebook — > Meta rename. This person is a pioneer for this Metaverse I must say. Zuckerberg bought Oculus in 2014 ,that just tells how futuristic he is. It just matter of years /months that we all will be experiencing the Metaverse around us.thanks Tedx ,keep up this good work

  7. this is now 2021- how secretly you all kept ths from the world. Funny how the rich get in on it first and then the rest of us. Now the stocks so high we can't even get in.

  8. Watching this in 2021 and it all makes sense now. Mark Nsuka-berg had it all figured out since tey tey. He only needed us to be ready for it. True true, "ideas don't come fully formed."

  9. These idiots will never admit the only goal is to have total control over your brainwashing. These people are extremely dangerous and must be stopped. Leave it in video games, we don't need this in our life as animals.

  10. your VR will never beat the power of closing my eyes and playing my guitar channeling pure improv….stay free. The fake trees don't produce the phenols and air filtration services. etc etc. But if it can reduce consumer demand for goods….great. We need to eliminate the elite ENTIRELY if we are to use something like the metaverse. FULLY DECENTRALISED BLOCKCHAIN IS THE ONLY PATH TO A DECENT FUTURE. ASK FOR YOUR ELECTIONS TO BE RUN THIS VERY CHEAP AND EASY WAY
