Uh. Been a year since my channel blew up, and you know I never miss a chance to be sentimental and sappy, so thank you so much for the support. It has been beyond anything I ever could have expected, and it means a lot that I can continue to make this series (and videos in general) as my job. Much love.

  2. I wonder if part of how intuitive VR is, also has to do with how new it is as a medium. all the games and experiences you get with it have to be beginner for EVERYONE. Theres no established practices yet. I wonder if the lady you live with would have a better time picking up really old retro games, than some of the modern ones.

  3. been playing video games for 30 plus years, all different types and i cant do VR gaming. massive headache, only able to play for maybe an hour at a time

  4. Was this video made before the Oculus Quest or something? No tethers required… though the physical space limitations are still a thing. Also about that earlier point; because of Oculus Quest, you don't need a beefy PC to run VR; you just need about 400 bucks to buy a Quest; even cheaper than getting a PS5

  5. When I first tried VR, it was because my dad was very impressed with playing the walking sim games. I found it boring, frustrating, and sickening most of the time because I was use to just being in one spot and doing a lot super human activities. For my dad though? He hadn't picked up a game since the late 90s, and it was because navigating a 3D space with only a controller was just too confusing weird.

People unfamiliar with games, or at least 3D games, playing in VR reminds me of how some people use to flick controllers upward trying to get characters to jump, it just didn't make sense to only press a button. Hell, I'm positive that's why the Wii was so popular amongst nongamers, the idea of moving around while not actually moving around yourself is like trying to drive a car for the first time.

  6. Way i see it going is first, eliminating the need for controllers for hand motions (either through hand tracking like quest of special gloves) and then making movement feel close to natural as possible (likely a treadmill like system).

  7. I think it's funny that, whilst VR games are more accessible and spontaneous than many traditional games, most of the VR community is comprised of hardcore gamers looking for technological novelty.

  8. This series reminds me of when my ex wanted to play games with me. I had a console, and the first console game I played (besides N64 games I didn't have access to) was Halo, so I booted it up on easy and couldn't watch her play for more than a few minutes without losing my mind. I figured going straight to a shooter was too much, so I loaded up diablo, the first game I ever played. I figured since the controls were mostly just clicking on things she'd pick it up quick, but things like getting lost and being overwhelmed by enemies turned her off. She pretty much gave up after that, probably partly my fault because I'm sure she was picking up on my exasperation. If these videos would have come out by then, I would have watched them with her so she could see she's not just dumb, and I could be reminded how much video game knowledge I take for granted.

  9. Ive tried vr a few times, and im also an inexperienced gamer- im only now after a few years getting the hang of mouse movement-
my biggest issue with vr is that it's so immersive, that i cried while playing superhot- something about feeling like your actually getting shot at made it feel much more intense than normal first person shooters. i also kept bumping into things

  10. You always show the games you had your wife play, but then only show a small fraction of the footage. I just want to see footage of all the games she played, but instead you just talk all the time

  11. fuck man I love these videos but I'd love to hear your wife's reactions more
Don't get me wrong I love the commentary, but it could be both useful and fun for us to hear how she reacts
