I still have my iPod touch 2 I bought in 2009 and still use it everyday. I love it!
I really want to own one
To me, the iPod Touch is for people who still want that older Apple feel without having to miss out on the latest version of IOS. It still has a headphone jack, a small screen, and a home button, 3 big things we've been asking to make a return for a long time now. It's a relic of the past but I'm glad it's still around in SOME form (as of now it's called the iPhone SE)
If there wasn't smart phones there would definitely be market for this but since there is iphone, why would anyone buy this?

I remember getting my first ever phone, a Samsung stratosphere back in 2012 I was so excited but it didn’t have much storage for my music and my iPod nano had a bad battery. I decided to save up my Christmas and birthday money to buy the iPod touch 5 32GB. I absolutely LOVED that iPod. It absolutely ran circles around that Samsung phone. I ended up using the phone for strictly calling/ texting and did everything else on the iPod. A few years later I upgraded to a iPhone 6 and I still used the iPod since it had more storage that the iPhone 6. I finally stopped using the iPod the following year when it got iOS 9 and became unbearably slow😢 iPod touch was the GOAT when your parents wouldn’t let you have a phone and it sucks they are discontinued
“They can’t text or make calls, but it does have iMessage.” So yeah they can text other iPhone users.
I bought an used Ipod Touch 7th Gen for 50 bucks last week, it's being paired with a headphone amplifier as my dedicated audio setup.
New iPods are completely obsolete in 2023.
I think apple should still make ipod touch but in premium variant to compete with Sony!

The Zune HD was lowkey great, Microsoft just released it way too late after they completely ruined the Zune’s reputation

They are handy for what they're made for but way overpriced for what it is, as is everything else from apple, it's a shame they discontinued the line that started it all, seems like a corporate greed situation

I just bought a used one for that very reason… I miss having a dedicated music device, and there aren't any other that work with AirPods. Email, work and social apps make me want to avoid my phone. If iPhone had real profiles to switch between different experiences, I'd dig that.
It's 2022, and they finally stopped making iPods after 21 years.
Also great to have if your someone like me who own an android phone who can't watch movies and TV shows that I bought from the iTunes store on my phone.
