  2. hey i m buying 15mp digital camera but do u think its enough to upload videos from it on youtube??? i mean i i record and u[load vid thrn how many pixel would it be 480p 720p or other????

  3. is  m8 worth upgrading from the s4? in terms of camera because my s4 still takes awesome pics!!!

how is the m8 camera in terms of document capturing??

  4. Yes , the megapixels are noy the only thing that will take better images.but the image quality on htc onem8 is not so good. So, techradar, will you please stop preferring HTC.and sis u say that sony doesn't have a great camera?…… Just go take some photography classes……….

  5. 4mpx ultra shit-xel camera, how is it good enough in a market where 8mpx is getting "obsolet"? Its as if you wouldnt care about the 4.7 750×1350 ips lcd screen on the iphone 6… full hd 1080p and 12mpx cameras should be the least on their respective specs on all phones…

  6. Do people realise that the lens on each camera can only handle a certain megapixel count anyway. Besides, less megapixels equals more light per pixel and better image quality with lower noise. Yes it would be nice to crop a little so maybe 6-8mp might be better, but I like that HTC have a 1/3 inch sensor too. I'm a big Apple fan and I enjoy the 8mp of the iPhone, but this HTC also enables much better HDR than any other camera phone out there too. This is because of the two cameras working together on this camera. I'd be perfectly happy with the camera on this phone.

  7. I have HTC m8 and i used it so much
Nice phone but the camera not good enough as lumia or sony !!!
Lumia 1020 is best camera phone

  8. I have the HTC One M8 since March now and yes, the camera is pretty crappy. The ultrapixels do a great job at night, you get awesome looking photos. But during the daylight or in a room that's well lit, when in auto mode, the pics look overexposed and really "foggy". You pretty much have to set your white balance properly and play with the settings every time you take a photo. You really have to learn to use this camera and I just didn't bother, it just pissed me off so much that so much effort is required in order to get a decent photo. Auto mode should shoot decent photos and it doesn't. Everything else on the phone is near perfect, great phone, camera needs a lot of work.

  9. HTC One M8 16 bit raw to 16 bit compressed png VS iphone 6 8 bit compressed  jpg, Samsung s5 8 bit compressed Jpg & Sony Xperia Z2 8 bit compressed jpg

iphone 6 8Mp Standard 8 bit  compressed JPG capture viewed  @ 100% magnification
look at the woman's face. Notice the muddy Jpg compression artifacts? https://www.flickr.com/photos/snaparazzo/15234717798/sizes/o/

HTC One M8 4MP 16 bit RAW to 16 bit compressed .PNG  capture viewed @ 100% magnification. The M8 has no such artifacts.

Samsung Galaxy S5 16Mp Standard 8 bit  compressed JPG capture viewed  @ 100% magnification. Resolution is better than the Iphone 6 but still has muddy Jpg compression artifacts & The images do not look better thanthe HTC One M8.

Sony Xperia Z2 21Mp Standard 8 bit  compressed JPG capture viewed  @ 100%
Much better llookin than the Samsung Galaxy S5 but still not knocking the HTC out the park.

  10. So funny seeing people talk nonsense about megapixel count. I can only presume none of you are photographers. Or even take half decent snapshots. Because if you rely on mp count, shows how little you know. Pros were taking amazing pictures about 15 years ago with less!

  11.  The issue with the M8's camera is not  really the hardware so much as the software; particularly the registered  tonal values and jpg compression settings. All of which have been fixed with mods including one that lets it output in RAW .DRAW format the RAW DRAW format however, is clumsy to work with at the moment & requires the use of  command lines in windows to convert them to 16 bit Tiffs.  The Good news is the camera  will soon be able to output  RAW data in .DNG format with the Android L update at which point people will be able to upload roughly 22.3MB 16 bit uncompressed .PNG files to the web which are absolutely stunning.  Iv'e seen them people. I currently create them myself. The only advantage more megapixels have is when you digitally zoom in. The M8 however, with a focal extender can match or even exceed the IQ of the Samsung's current jpg output. Unfortunately, with the M8's lousy software image stabilization, it will be very difficult to do so, making  M7 the better phone for hand-held shots.

  12. "Its important to realise that just because its got more megapixels doesn't make it automatically a better camera" true. BUT have you seen the pictures coming from the M8, the chromatic aberration is woeful, literally pinks and other colours lighting up the image this happens from cheap glass. The images have terrible noise even in bright conditions which should be the opposite, a bigger pixel should counter act that and or a bigger sensor yet it doesn't on the M8. The images can't be cropped due to the lack of megapixels which Facebook implement in your profile picture so your point on it being more for uploading to Facebook makes me feel dubious.
So.. "is it good enough?" no not really. The money in creating ultrapixels and pushing an innovation which actually isn't increasing quality at all would have been better spent on glass and a bigger sensor with a higher pixel count that would have been better in all lighting conditions.

  13. I had a M7, and I'd agree that the photo IN GENERAL look superb and impressive at first glance. BUT! it was plagued with the purple tinting at night, taking it into repairs didn't fix it and most importantly there's severe lack of detail when zoomed in.

I appreciate their work with the ultrapixel idea, but I think 8MP/UP would make for a great all round camera

  14. I really like that the camera has ultra pixels and that it is waterproof and has 3D. It would be awesome if it had a fingerprint reader on the front so that you can protect the phones without remembering a passcode or swipe drawing.and it would be almost impossible for somebody to get into your phone (unless your card is taken out).

  15. Oh and the m8 takes better pics than the 13megapixel desire. So proof is in the pudding and I don't want to hear all of this they used a Shit optic system on purpose the m8 has a awesome camera. You guys want to say that to back your phones with 13+ megapixels to feel better about it.

  17. Every one saying it has a bad camera are the people who have not taken any pics with it what so ever. I have a 40 plus megapixel camera and the pics I get from my HTC one are amazing. If all you do is crop every photo you take then don't get it that's the only downfall. I know I have never cropped any pic I have ever taken. If all of these people talking Shit were to see the pics it takes without seeing the phone its on they wouldn't be saying anything but wow that's really nice. You people and ur spec crazy bullshit. There are articles and comparisons with this versus way higher mp count phones and it looks just as nice if not better bc when the light goes away the other phones are basically useless

  18. Am I the only one that thinks the on-screen buttons on the M8 look terrible? That is the only thing keeping me from buying one, they just seem so intrusive and make the phone seem uneven, am I overreacting or what? Because everything else is just so great on the phone and if it kept the off-screen buttons from the M7 it would be a must buy for me. I currently have an iPhone 4s and am deciding between a M8 and an S5.

  19. Most beatiful, most well built smartphone which is one of the fastest if not THE. But camera-wise no the m8 camera is nothing special. Gets the job nothing more nothing less.

  20. 4mp is actually nice android has pumped out high mp phones for years that put out crap photos compared to iphones that have traditionally even at low mp's has produced wonderful high quality photos.

  21. Very informative video. However, my main question still hasn't been answered clearly. My phone is my main day-to-day camera, and I want a phone that can capture a moment quickly, as it's happening. I feel like I'm crazy, but I can't be the only one who notices it: the iPhone 5S just has phenomenal shutter speed. A friend of mine took hers to a shooting range and just spammed the shutter button so they got a shot of a gun's muzzle flash. I want a phone that I can take out and instantly take a shot without a long focus time, without the screen going black for a few seconds to actually take the shot, no "processing" bar afterward, and the ability to instantly snap 10 more shots directly afterward if I so choose. I took these concerns to the salesperson at my provider's storefront, and he tried to convince me that setting the camera to burst mode is the same thing. When a moment is happening I don't have time to be finicking around in menus. Would I be better off just switching from Android to Apple's device?

  22. I got one and I think so. I think the photo quality is very good and the effects are very easy to use. I do think HTC would have been a little smarter to bring the megapixels up to 8 or even 10. Still I'm impressed with the pictures for being a 4 megapixel camera.

  23. Htc m8 camera decent for basic photo taking and social media? Yes.

But here's the problem, its the exact same camera as the m7 and its being charged $700 as a brand new phone, you would expect more, like an 8up camera, more zoom. If mp truly didnt matter everyone would stick to 2.1mp 1080p cameras. The m8 only gains more aluminum, a second camera, slightly better boom speakers, new ui, and slightly better but the same old snapdragon 801. The upgrade isn't worth $700. They didn't change anything with the camera sensor itself and got lazy. They removed ois so one can argue the m7 has a better camera once you get rid of the selective focus idea
