  1. Why would you watch ESPN Esports, when you have youtube, reddit and whatever is out there…? You can watch whatever you feel like without waiting for stuff you don't care abt…

  2. I was a professional journalist for 11 years, Jake. It's a big deal any time the profession contracts. Appreciate your honesty and perspective.

  3. I think the espn esports situation shows that the real future is in grassroots organizations and creators instead of hoping for esports and gaming to be accepted and taken over by major corporations from traditional sports and journalism.

Channels like this are where the heart of the community really lives <3

  4. I hate to break it to you guys because I love games as well but they are not ready for this level yet which is why you will see these companies start to back away like espn has. Video games are not a sport yet. Until tournaments are held on local networks again with zero latency and no outside hardware being brought in (keyboards, mice and controllers should be provided and used like balls in a sport or checked like a boxers wraps) then this is just a giant entertainment bubble that will burst. I would love to see gaming legitimized as a sport but giant cash rewards does not = a sport. Gaming is on the level of WWE. It is sports entertainment and nothing more currently.

  5. Doesn’t matter to a lot of people tbh since these reporters aren’t really do anything in many esports scenes (ex. nothing I know in CS:GO and Dota2).

  6. Gaming culture is cringe and deplorable. It’s the simple reason why things like this happen. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, google search the top pro gamers in each major game and click the images provided. That will tel you all you need to know. Until there is a culture shift for the better, which prioritizes a more masculine, competitive environment, don’t expect things like this to stop happening.

  7. I don’t like the term (death) of espn esports. Covid has caused a lot of issues, and once things ramp back up they will hire more people again and I’m sure espn esports will pick back up.
