And I don't get that bullying crap on text messages or anything else today you can pick and choose who you want to hear from Joe's picking on you by messaging then don't let them message you no more it's not that hard you could do that with all of that crap today
I brought my phone to school because my mom would call all day. If I didn't answer she'd think I was kidnapped.
My oldest boys got three kids if they're not on their phone then they're on their tablets if they're not on their tablets then they're playing Xbox on the TV. And if they are not on any of these they're sleeping to start the day all over again. I don't see how today's parents allow their kids to do this all day long parents need to find a better way to get the kids being kids again. I always kick my kids out of the house and let them outside they were only on the internet for an hour games on TV an hour an hour and a half majority of the time they were out figuring out something to do. Parents of got to start waking up these are not good babysitters

I took away all ways to social media. When my kids tell me "I'm bored" I literally give them 1 stick and say "go outside and find a way to make this useful"
Isn't it obvious? Did you ever have any of these things during your time at school? Go out and quiz kids today on Maths, History even current History and you'll find they know almost nothing.
No smart phones, in school! A flip phone to call mom or dad in an emergency is all they need.

Yes! Smartphones are not necessary in a classroom! Take this from a retired teacher who had a student in high school who hid his phone in his underpants during a test! You wonder why our students are getting dumber and dumber? It's a no brainer. They can pick up their phones after school.

This is great, there's nothing worse than seeing a toddler with a smart device because parents don't want to be parents. It starts there and only gets worse the older they get and it WILL ruin their lives.

I can see flip phones being that bit of help (school attacks, etc) but smartphones should not be allowed. Back in the day, my kids had pagers because we could be on a late run (we worked EMS) or unexpected out of town run, and we had to let them know whether to go to the neighbors, or other family would pick them up after school. I would only approve for things like that. And flip phones can do texts and calls, but little else.
It's like when do you allow calculators? The kids had to prove to me they could do the problem in long hand and get the correct answer before I or the teachers would allow them to use a calculator…
Any parent that has a her/she aka female child knows how vulnerable and socially disengaged and destructive smartphones are to young females, especially when they are explicitly seeking for base validation…..
I have ABSOLUTELY no objection to schools banning smartphones during instruction time—I trust the intention of my children's teachers…
