  1. It's been irritating how the S23 Ultra keeps popping up as the "default" version of this phone to have.

It's like Samsung forgot why the S10e became a niche yet popular phone for enthusiasts and why people were reluctant to upgrade to their S20 series phones.

The S23 Ultra is TOO BIG. It's a phone-tablet, a phablet or whatever. It's not practical to carry. It's heavy, it's bulky. It may have the greatest camera in the world but it's *just too big*. There was a reason why Samsung didn't push the Samsung S10+ back then and instead pushed their middle of the road model, because that was a fair compromise between size and power.

The base S23 model has a lot of the same reasons I got the S10e back then – it's smaller. It allows for one-handed use. It's compact, it's only a little bulkier than the S10e. And while losing the headphone jack and SD card is a stinging loss for me, I've been able to cope with USB OTG solutions and moving on to Bluetooth-based solutions for audio, even for my old car sound system that only has a casette system (look up casette to Bluetooth adapters! they're a thing!). I remember back when phones were only like, 3 or 4 inches diagonal and were bulky. Also don't forget flip phones as well. And what made all these phones great is they could be used one handed.

04:09 – There's "Lime" and "Graphite" on the site but they're not worth it either.

I argue that getting new phones maybe 5-6 months after its release is the perfect time to get a new phone. Those who get sick of their phones will return it, so there's plenty of "Mint" and "barely used" phones out there. The FOMO early adopters will have eaten the service fees and initial sunk costs of the phone, and you will save a lot of money in the process. MSRP for a S23 256GB is $860 USD. I got mines from Swappa for $600 and I feel it is the right price for a "flagship" phone these days.

Glad more people are noticing how underrated the base model is.

  2. I just traded my a53 for the s23 due to the a53's charging system starting to fail after having the phone for almost a year and, unfortunately, are not compatible with wireless charging.

  3. It's a great phone, but it's not different enough from the A54 considering the enormous price gap between the two. It's double the price but not double as good, if its price was closer I would have bought one.

  4. I'm an android fan. And have been using galaxy line for a while. I currently have the 22 ultra, I'm over it. It's just to big and heavy and just a pain carrying it around. I'm thinking of downgrading to an s23 but still not sure. I have been really thinking of jumping ship to apple😅. And I actually know quite a few people who have done so as well. For same reason that phones are just to big and the smaller models lack so much, specially battery. Also let's not even talk about the looks. They haven't been the best looking phones in a while. So yea honestly not sure what to get now.

  5. I have had a Samsung 8 for ever! I wanted something easy to use and was happy with it. Until recently when I dropped it by accident (as I had do so many times before because due to multitasking) So I had to go look for a new phone. I bought a Samsung S23. I love my Samsung S23. I find it funny how they always rate phones, and I have never been sent a survey to rate my Samsung. Who exactly is rating these phones?

  6. I had the Galaxy S21 Ultra. For 2 years. While it was an amazing phone it was big…right on the line of being too big. So when I upgraded to the S23. I just got the plain Jane 23. And I don't regret it one bit. I love it.

  7. I just bought an S23 Ultra … never considered the regular S23, though I did consider the plus.

If I'm spending that kind of money, an extra couple hundred dollars is worth spending to get the best performance in a phone.

  8. My note 8 started to show its age with some apps telling me they werent being supported. I originally was really interested in the Asus Zenfone 10 for many reasons but main one being size. But ultimately got the s23 for its updates commitment, as i enjoy long term use of a phone

  9. Why is iPhone and galaxy becoming the same. I hate the updates I been team galaxy for 10 years… and I'm disappointed as ever taking away storage made us EXACTLY like iPhone users we stood out….

  10. Just switched carriers and got an s23 for free. Going to miss the size of my xz2 compact but stoked on long-term support

  11. I only own s series tablet. Im planning to buy phone for s series so i could use my samsung watch 4 😅. Well im into wellness aawareness this yr. 😅 still buying it though

  12. I get the non ultra/plus phones since honestly there is such thing as too big a screen. I dont play mobile games or play pretend photography nor am i interested in owning "the best" device just to brag until a new one releases in 9 months. For 99% of people, the standard "flagships" are good enough for daily use and memes
