Tim Cook loves him and hates him at the same time lol 😀đŸ’Ē Marques is so even handed even when he's crapping on the ridiculous markups and embarrassing magical 8 gigs of memory, it's communicated in such a neutral way that it's hard to get mad at him unless you're on the marketing team. The marketing team hates this video but then again they are under the boot and heel of the finance guys who insist on keeping Wall Street happy with 30 to 40% margins.

    Truth is truth. It's going to take about three more rounds of the media totally laughing at embarrassingly Rich Apple taking advantage of its customers like this for them to change anything.

  3. I just bought a refurbished MacBook Air from Apple (16, 256) and it’s so much cheaper than the m2 line. I’m basically only missing out on the functionality of the M3 since the only difference between the m1/2 is the 20% increase in performance. It’s basically brand new too.

  4. My guess why they only slowly roll out the new chips in their different product lines is firstly More sales, more better and secondly probably production volume for the M3 chips.

  7. It's sad how Apple used to be synonymous with innovative, sexy design. Now every laptop version, every iPhone version, every Apple product period, looks almost if not identical to the previous one.

  8. I already have a 2021 mid range HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop. Should I also opt for a MacBook Air M3 (base/mid model)? The only reason being XCode + Swift (iOS app development). Additionally I have iPhone 14 Pro and AirPods Pro 2 too.

  13. Mkbhd one big issue is that is is becoming so much constrained. Not many powerful apps are possible because of permission issues. So the additional raw power cannot be used much.

  20. My current laptop is an M1 MacBook air and still going fine. Even with some gaming too. Wake me when it gets the M4 or better the M5 chip. I like the bigger screen and should have been available from the start. Now apple get rid of that camera bump! Come on, I know u can do it.

  24. Honestly with the prices of the current MacBooks, I'm tempted to just install a Linux distribution on my 2018 MacBook Air and see how I get on with using that full time, rather than upgrading. I love macOS but I'm tired of paying silly prices for Apple hardware.

  25. I personally have a Mac Pro 2019 at home and an M1 Macbook Air for when i'm mobile. I had a 15" Macbook Pro Retina from 2012 but in 2022, after 10yrs. it's really started to struggle too much and i had speaker problems as well so i decided to buy an M1 Macbook Air. I also did go with 8gb RAM because 16gb of RAM wasn't available in the store where i bought it from. That was a big mistake to be honest. I needed the Macbook Air though, because i was in the hospital and was awake only a couple of days after being in a coma for 2 weeks. Anyway, that's why i couldn't wait for the 16gb model. My sister was just away and she was the only one who could get it for me so that we could Skype.

    Now, that being said, i must say that i do some Photoshop work, i have mostly many "Brave" tabs open. And i also use Logic Pro X and sometimes Final Cut Pro X. It all works but you feel that it gets sluggish after a while.

    But so, i do agree with many of the reactions and the video: The M1 machines are still VERY capable! I would just go with at least 16gb of RAM and you're golden! I do have 512gb of storage. I would recommend at least that or 1TB (if you can.) If not, go with the RAM update and just get an external SSD/NVME.

    The only thing for me with the M2 though is that you can get HDMI 2.1 instead of 2.0 with the M1. Which will give you 4k @ 120Hz or 8k @ 60Hz. (Note that this is only on the HDMI port of the Macbook Pro models with at least an M2 Pro or better in it.)

  31. i find the marked up price is decent when ya buy it refurb from the official source. i got a m1 macbook air at 1tb ssd and 16 ram for 1300. this was when m2 was the new thing. pretty decent with everything u get since even some gaming laptops wont give u that much ssd at that price range let alone 2 thunderbolt ports, that long a battery and air drop. not to mention being strong off power chord anywhere. its a great deal

  32. Knowing how much memory and SDD’s cost, Apples base models have always aggravated me. They don’t charge a reasonable cost to bump up. It’s exorbitant. I’m trying to remember if it was like that when Jobs was there. Their motto use to be, more for less.

  35. I recently went from Windows to Mac for work where I need to compile large code bases and run a bunch of Docker containers locally. Having been on Windows for a long time and suffered bad performance even with the highest end Windows laptops I thought I needed a MacBook Pro with the M3 Max chip and a bunch of ram and got one specced like that. I realise now that these machines are so capable and extremely well optimized that I bought way more than I needed, after months of work I still haven't even heard the fans spin up on the MacBook, something I thought was impossible coming from the Windows world. I believe a M3 16/512 MacBook Air would have been enough for my needs and that most engineers would be very happy with one and comparing the price of one of those to a MacBook Pro you are getting a good deal.

  40. I am a public high school teacher that is currently using a 2020 MacBook Air M1 for 8-10 hours per day of classroom use. Everything I do is projected on a screen and the bulk of of work uses Google apps and Google Classroom. The M1 runs circles around my old i5 MacBook Air that I had been previously using. I never considered a new MacBook before until these M1s came out and changed my mind. I now want to pick up an M3 Air for personal use. Even the $699 M1s that Walmart is selling easily handles basic tasks for a non power user.

  41. I got the M1 Air 2 years ago, I wish I got the bigger 512GB storage, but anyway it's been one of the best purchases I've made, of course I still have a windows laptop, but macbook air is just fantastic for watching movies, writing, portability…etc. I expect it to last for a very long time

  46. I’m upgrading from a base M1 MacBook Pro 8gb RAM256gb, to an M3 MacBook Air 15 with 16gb RAM and 512GB. It’s worth it for the RAM alone and for my specific workflow.

  47. AND THEY STILL HAVENT MADE IT 16GB AS A STANDARD CAUSE THEY THINK 8GB UNIFIED MEMORY IS ENOUGH LIKE ITS 2024 BRO IT AINT THE EARLY 2000s??!?!?!?!?
