  1. For those who think EVs are too unaffordable and too futuristic, they must listen to your lecture on the evolution of the phone. In 1994 I bought a Nokia bag phone for $299. Alltel service was $39/mo, $1.29/min peak, and $.79 off peak. Now, we’ll… I live in Japan and total EVs are everywhere. Next is hybrids and the ICE is rarely seen.

  2. I remember these days Rusty. Plus I remember trying to find a pay phone at the gas stations, etc. and the change we needed to use them. If the pay phone ate your change you were in trouble and mad as a hornet. You always remind us of some sweet memories. Loved the towns you drove through. The sky was beautiful. I'll never accept the chip in my body.

  3. Rusty it would be great to have an electric car But you have to calculate the cons, Google says there is 522 miles from home base 1 in Kingsland to home base 2 in Capitan NM or 8 hours 17 min. Again according to Google a typical electric car car can travel 100 miles per charge with 8 hours (60 kWt battery) to fully recharge so it would require 6 charges to go the distance or 48 hours charging time plus 8 hours travel time =56 hours or 7 times longer. These are typical numbers per Google obviously some cars could do better, even the best tesla would require 3 charges @ 10 hours each while a Chevrolet Volt can go 53 miles on electric only and 10-16 hours to recharge. Things will get better but we can only count on what we know not what we wish.

  4. The good thing about neurolink is that it will help with prosthetics…
It will help the brain communicate with a robotic limb so you can use it as a real limb, moving fingers and joints by thinking about it like the real thing.

    ?We will become Cyborgs Rusty!

  5. Party lines were just ending around the time I was born. I remember us having a party line until I was around 4 yrs old, then we got a private line. Dad and Mom went to Sears and picked out out wall mounted phone with a cord. A couple of years later we bought a color t.v. set and in just a year or so, we went from having a black and white, with 3 channels, to a color t.v. with a whopping 18 channels that all signed off between 3 and 5 a.m. with a picture and of the flag waving and the national anthem playing, then the test screen came on and if you had not been to bed yet, you had better be on your way.

  6. These lifetime stories are so enjoyable, you’ve lived in a time period that has such technological changes and am amazed at how you’ve adapted and embraced it all. Rusty you truly have a gift and we are fortunate to have you to share it with us.

  7. I have a rotary style phone in my basement that still works. I think it's kind of cool. As far as smartphones, l love them. I have always used Samsung Galaxies. I have s8 now and it's the best one so far.

  8. Amazing strolling back in time, I remember my Great Grandmother telling me about her coming to California as a child in a covered wagon. Lol, my grandchildren are aghast when I tell them we had one phone n it was attached to kitchen wall. Everyone in family could listen and heaven forbid if your friends called at dinner time! Dad would take the phone n lecture them on manners. ?

  9. My Grandparents never had a phone in their whole lives. They never had air conditioning in their house and used a ringer washer and hung their clothes on the line their whole lives also. And they lived until I was well into my 30s. I’m 55 now. Hard to believe how much has changed.

  10. Looks like 29 is getting more lanes finally. More traffic every day. We got our first phone when I was 6 years old. The kids were only allowed to use it under supervision. That was a smart move.
