Many people confuse the plugin hybrid technology with the regular hybrid. Tha majot difference is that PHEVs have the battery powered motor as their main power source and the engine is used only to complement the electric motor and extend the range.
Plug in technology is recognized by many manufacturers and consumers and remains a major competitor for all electric powertrains, so we wanted to present to you a list of PHEVs that you can buy in 2017 and compare their specs and prices. Enjoy the ride!

im sorry, but once you catch an auto manufacturer fudging numbers, and purposely lying to the public, u just cant trust them anymore. im talking about ford. they are always coming in last , with thier real world mpg figures. i understand why u include them on the list, but they have really dishonored themselves. they even admit to fudging there numbers, and recently had to change the epa ratings on many models. thats so shamefull. i wouldnt own a ford if u gave one too me. i would sell it, and buy almost anything else , thats not a ford. they do make nice trucks tho, in fact ill agree almost every model they make is descent , except anything in the hybrid line. they just cant get it right. they need to drop out of the hybrid market, stick to making trucks. and i think any mfg caught red handed lying to us, falsifying numbers etc – should be severely punished. its that type of thinking thats hurts everyone- they should have let them go out of business ( before the big bailout) . only the strong, honest, and true companies are going to survive well into the future. were going into a world, where there is no place for such bullshit. lying, making things up, falsifying numbers , lying to the people buying your products. you really need to do something amazing FORD to reclaim your honor. just my opinion mostly guys , except the fact ford lied about thier performance / epa ratings. thats a fact.

hey asshole take some speech lessons you cant pronounce MOTOR even if your life depends on it you also don't know what much about hybrids Cadillac ELR was the first car from Cadillac and Karma Rivero is also back in 2017
What is an Electric Muder?
Prius Prime might just be the best car.
In my C220 Bluetec I drive 750-850 miles with fuel tank of diesel on motorway. Fuck hybrids !
You missed the Pacifica plug in hybrid
As always, a beautiful review! Thank you.
The Audi A3 e-tron only gives 18 miles in electric mode? The Golf GTE with the same engines gives 25 miles…
Thx for the post, but for the future I suggest u classify if they r a parallel or series hybrid (which includes the REX EVs like the BMW i3 REX). Or just drop the term Hybrid and just call them Plug-in, since its ability to run off an external charge that most ppl r interested in.
Vw passat GTE is the best
Looks at the real MPG figures. Diesels are faster and more fuel efficient…in the real world. Not the lab conditions that produce these hybrid MPG figures are double what real people are able to achieve.
Sonata #1
Hyundai IONIQ is the best !
Good subject for a video. Unfortunately, it is so riddled with misinformation that it is a terrible starting place for anyone to begin their comparison of available PHEVs.
0:44 #01 Cadillac CT6 (srp $75,095)
2:17 #02 Ford Fusion (srp $31,995)
3:36 #03 Hyundai Sonata PHEV (srp $35,435)
5:08 #04 Mercedes-Benz S500 (srp $96,000)
6:05 #05 BMW 330e (srp $34,445)
7:05 #06 Mercedes-Benz C 350 e (srp $46,050)
8:12 #07 Audi A3 Sportback e-tron (srp $38,900)
9:15 #08 Toyota Prius Prime (srp $27,100)
10:11 #09 Kia Optima PHEV (srp $35,210)
11:11 #10 Chevrolet Volt (srp $33,220)
Audi A3 e-tron has a 1.4 Liter turbocharged engine, not 1.5 Liter.
And Chevrolet Volt Gen 2 is not available in Europe, neither as Chevrolet nor Opel nor Vauxhall. Only Chevrolet Volt Gen1 was.
78mpg in S500 doubt it
the Chevrolet Volt should be the first one there with its 55 mile ev range
Cadilac is to expensive on my opinion
That Toyota Prime! ??
love my outlander PHEV in Australia
BMW 330e starts at $44000, not $35k which seems same as a Sonata
Optima PHEV all the way! 29 miles EV range (not 27, you were a little off), 620 miles total range, and 275 ft-lb of torque!
Thank you. Love my Volt!
Still not ready to give up the gas option? Here are some good plug in hybrid cars with some all-electric range.
